PDM reminded Jonathan that the US and other international allies had actively collaborated with and offered assistance to Nigeria in its fight against corruption, especially between 2002 and 2009, but this enthusiasm and that of our international allies began to wane when business-as-usual began to creep back, culminating in your grant of pardon to the convicted former Governor of Bayelsa State. That action has robbed you of the moral capital you need to fight corruption in your government and in the rest of the nation at large.

Before you meet Obama in New York, it would do Nigeria a world of good if you would reverse that pardon and then, when you meet him, renew the commitment of your government to a genuine fight against corruption beyond meaningless media sound bites. You have been away for a while, how has it being for you since you were overlooked by the Super Eagles?



I wasn t happy with it, but I was always in touch with the team. I am always with them in spirit and talk to those I know well in the team before and after the games. I still saw myself as a member of the team even when I was not called up.



Did you really believe you would be recalled to the team?

 

Yes, I strongly had that feeling that if I kept doing well for my club, I will get another look-in and I thank God it happened. At some point, I was injured and I believe that delayed my return to the Eagles.



What should we expect of Nsofor now you are back in the team?

All the 10 teams at this point will be tough. We don t have to underrate our opponents, all we need do is be focused and play them as if we are playing the best team in the world in a cup final over two legs. We can t afford to miss out on Brazil 2014.

"My thinking on Brendan was this: if he can do it with players from the lower leagues at Swansea, what can he do with Rio and Terry or Rooney and Gerrard?

"I told him I wanted England to play with as much technical ambition as Swansea. He was up for it.

"It didn't work out. On April 1, I was contemplating the way forward for England with Brendan Rodgers -- and on April 29 the FA offered the job to Roy Hodgson."

Redknapp believes that the issue of compensation to Tottenham remains one of the reasons why the FA decided not to interview him.
