| + | == With growing appetite for content, AT&T navigates the great == | ||
| + | |||
| + | <html>More and more, AT T Inc. is becoming a creator of content, not just a conduit.From aspiring filmmakers to the Dallas Cowboys, from lip-syncing country music fans to the Bonnaroo Music Arts Festival, the giant Dallas-based telecom is supporting efforts that produce video and other content that can be viewed on its networks.It’s all part of the great convergence of television, the Internet and wireless technology that is changing the way we watch, especially entertainment and live sports. Soon, experts say, TV content and other video will be available anytime, anywhere and on almost any device.The convergence is being guided by some of the biggest, most influential companies in the world in an environment where content — and who controls it — is more important than ever. These firms are mashing together wired and wireless networks that allow two-way communication between devices, marrying the wide reach of broadcast with the precision of digital, creating opportunity for extreme customization.Much development work remains necessary on offerings as well as business models, but the potential is big.Verizon Wireless, a major sponsor of the National Football League, is working with Ericsson to develop a wireless service that could give fans at the Super Bowl and other games access to multiple live camera angles and replays.“100,000 spectators, 100,000 perspectives, and 100,000 different video experiences on thousands of different devices,” an Ericsson executive wrote earlier this year, addressing the potential of the technology, called evolved Multimedia Broadcast Multicast Services. Broadcast essentially refers to the ability to reach everyone with a single feed; multicast refers to the ability to reach particular audiences and devices.That has implications for content and advertising.“An advertiser has the opportunity to target not just a community but an individual living room,” said Vish Nandlall, the chief technology officer for Ericsson North America, based in Plano.This transforming convergence of TV and the Internet involves traditional broadcasters, cable and satellite operators, and giant telecoms, as well as aggressive startup companies and proven masters of Internet distribution.Netflix, Hulu and Amazon are underwriting original series for viewing on TV and other devices. And everyone is watching what Google and Apple do, Nandlall said.Speed, the great enablerThis year, Google and AT T both said they were bringing ultra-high-speed fiber service — speed, as always,[http://www.chinalmz.com/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=1278645&fromuid=144499 Community Run on Saturday to Help Typhoon Haiyan Victims], is the great enabler — to Austin. Austin is also home of SXSW, which calls itself a “unique convergence of original music, independent films and emerging technologies.” AT T is a sponsor.Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban and his business partner Todd Wagner were well ahead of the curve when they founded AudioNet, later named Broadcast.com, which was acquired by Yahoo for nearly $6 billion in 1999.“There is no such thing as convergence any longer,” Cuban responded in an email when asked about the industry today. “Everything is digital. There is nothing to converge.“The challenge is who can create, present, host, distribute, protect and create consumption of those digital bits.“I think AT T and Verizon are in great position to be successful. I think the big unknown is whether wireless broadband will evolve to be robust enough to enable consumers to cut their home broadband cord and just use wireless.”Ericsson, based in Sweden, provides network equipment and services to mobile and fixed network operators including Verizon, AT T and Vodafone. Worldwide, more than 40 percent of cellular traffic is carried on networks built by Ericsson, the company says.Up to 60 percent of cellular traffic today in some operator networks in North America is video, Nandlall said. The global rate is about 30 percent. Worldwide, video is growing at 60 percent per year and is expected to be about half of all cellular traffic by 2018.AT T is focusing much of its capital spending on that sweet spot of growth through an effort it calls Project VIP.In its latest earnings conference call, AT T said it was ahead of schedule on plans to expand its latest generation 4G LTE wireless network, which now covers about 250 million people nationwide.And, AT T said, it is expanding the reach and improving the speed of its U-verse television and Internet service. U-verse, the fastest-growing segment of AT T’s business, had its first billion-dollar-revenue month during the third quarter.“The future for us, whether its fixed line or wireless, is about building a video delivery capability,” AT T CEO Randall Stephenson said at a recent investor conference. “And that’s where the capital is going to be going over the next three years.”The company said nearly three-quarters of its U-verse customers have what it calls an “enhanced” experience every month, meaning they use an interactive TV application, watch content on a different device or online, or use a U-verse enabled app.Blurred linesIn this great convergence, the distinction between content creator, provider and carrier is blurring.When AT T and the Cowboys announced their naming rights deal for AT T Stadium in Arlington earlier this year, they also said they “will work together to deliver an interactive game day experience for fans like no other.”“This is about smartphones, pads, computers and technology,[http://bellsoftech.com/Ravens-Jerseys-For-Cheap.html Authentic Ravens Jerseys Sale],” Stephen Jones, son of Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, told The Dallas Morning News at the time.“This was not just about settling for a naming rights deal … This is a bigger deal.”The possibilities are enticing. Because of the two-way nature of the technology, fans could be able to choose different camera angles for live action and replays,[http://bellsoftech.com/Ravens-Jerseys-For-Cheap.html Authentic Ravens Jerseys On Sale], witness the game from quarterback Tony Romo’s perspective, and eavesdrop on Jerry as he watches his team.Whatever the eventual offerings become, it means more traffic on AT T’s networks. More video means more mobile data use. Wireless data is one of the company’s fastest-growing business segments, with revenue up nearly 18 percent in the third quarter to $5.5 billion. As a whole,[http://wiki.ishopcms.ru/index.php/%D0%A3%D1%87%D0%B0%D1%81%D1%82%D0%BD%D0%B8%D0%BA:Sbwxdexc2#Mind_over_math-_How_best_to_erase_debt- Mind over math- How best to erase debt-], the company generates more than $125 billion in annual revenue.The same concept — more video views, more network use — is at work in AT T’s other content-related efforts. Some examples:After considering thousands of pitches in a contest for aspiring filmmakers called “Take Your Shot,[http://www.grincense.com/spicys.html Shop Indianapolis Colts Jerseys],” AT T and ISAtv provided professional mentors from Wong Fu Productions to three young filmmakers who used AT T smartphones to shoot videos. Viewers could watch the winning efforts online (takeyourshotfilms.com) and vote for their favorites.Fans had a chance to win tickets to the recent Country Music Association awards by making videos of themselves dancing and playing air guitar to songs. Now, they can win a trip to the 2014 CMA Music Festival by submitting videos of themselves lip syncing, playing air guitar or dancing to Florida Georgia Line’s hit song, “Cruise” (letscruise.att.net).Part of an effort to promote U-verse’s Country Deep app, fan clips are mixed with Florida Georgia Line’s original video. Each time the site is refreshed, a new version appears. Fans get a link to the video containing their personal footage, which they can share with friends.This year at Bonnaroo in Manchester, Tenn., AT T bolstered its 4G LTE network with the addition of several portable cell sites and other equipment, allowing tens of thousands of fans to share photos and other communications from the festival. Performance highlights and behind-the-scenes videos are available on the U-verse website (uverseonline.att.net).Last year, AT T worked with producer and screenwriter Tim Kring on a five-episode original online drama series called Daybreak that evolved from Kring’s Fox series Touch. Each short episode of Daybreak, still available on YouTube, featured AT T devices and services.Like Amazon and Netflix, would AT T ever create a full-length TV series?“The options are limitless, and we’re not saying no to anything right now,” said GW Shaw, vice president of U-verse marketing.“There is so much opportunity. The next seven years, your viewing experience is going to change dramatically.”</html> | ||

| + | <html>SAN JOSE, Calif. Keenan Reynolds rushed for 240 yards and a career-high seven touchdowns the most ever in NCAA history by a quarterback leading the Navy Midshipmen to a 58-52 victory in triple overtime against the San Jose State Spartans. | ||
| + | In the third overtime, Navy safety Parrish Gaines intercepted David Fales’ pass in the end zone on third-and-goal from the 3. Moments later, Reynolds raced 25 yards on first down for a touchdown, sealing Navy s win. | ||
| + | One week after securing a berth in the Armed Forces Bowl with a 42-14 victory over South Alabama, Navy improved to 7-4 with its first victory over San Jose State in three meetings. | ||
| + | San Jose State fell to 5-6 and remained one win shy of bowl eligibility with a game against Fresno State remaining. | ||
| + | Now with 26 rushing touchdowns, Reynolds moved into second place on Navy s all-time single-season list, one behind Ricky Dobbs. He also moved into third place on the NCAA s single-season list for rushing touchdowns by a quarterback, one behind Dobbs and Collin Klein. | ||
| + | Reynolds became the fourth quarterback in Navy history to rush for at least 1,000 yards and pass for at least 1,000 in a season. And for the sixth straight game, he ran for at least one TD and one passed for at least one. | ||
| + | Fales completed 42 of 56 passes for 440 yards and five touchdowns. | ||

| + | In the second OT, Navy triple-optioned its way to another score with Reynolds running off left tackle for 7 yards and a touchdown, putting the Midshipmen ahead 52-45. But San Jose pulled even on Thomas Tucker’s 5-yard touchdown run. | ||
| + | Trailing 16-10 at halftime, Navy opened the second half with a nine-play, 75-yard touchdown drive to take a 17-16 lead on Reynolds 3-yard run up the middle. The Midshipmen had four double-digit runs on the drive as their triple-option kicked into high gear. | ||
| + | The Midshipmen defense forced the first punt of the game, and receiver Shawn Lynch returned it 24 yards to the Navy 46. Nine plays later, Reynolds headed right and shoveled the ball to running back Darius Staten for a 3-yard touchdown pass. That pass put Navy ahead 24-16 with 4:58 left in the third quarter. | ||
| + | San Jose State quickly sliced Navy s lead to 24-22 on Fales’ 23-yard touchdown pass to Jones with 2:06 left in the third quarter. The Spartans went for two, but Fales pass was incomplete. | ||
| + | The Spartans forced a punt and marched 88 yards for a touchdown. This time, Fales hit wide receiver Tyler Winston on a 4-yard touchdown pass in the back right corner of the end zone. Winston got behind cornerback Brendon Clements and made a leaping grab. The Spartans went for two again, and this time Fales ran into the end zone, extending San Jose State s lead to 30-24 with 9:31 left to play. | ||
| + | Navy roared back to take a 31-30 lead on Reynolds 38-yard touchdown run with 7:06 remaining. Reynolds scoring burst up the middle came two plays after he hit wide receiver Casey Bolena over the middle for 19 yards on third-and-10 from the Navy 30. | ||
| + | Minutes later, Navy s defense forced a huge turnover. Fales completed a short pass over the middle to running back Jarrod Lawson, but linebacker William Tuider delivered a crushing blow from behind, knocking the ball loose, and safety Wave Ryder recovered at the Navy 45 with 5:47 remaining. | ||

to their eventual opponent in that year s NBA Finals, the Seattle Supersonics, in Seattle s Key Arena. The loss ran the Bulls mark to 10-2 after 12 games and put them on pace to lose a total of 14 games. It was a great start, one of the best to that point in NBA history, but surpassing the 1971-72 Lakers all-time best 69-13 record seemed improbable. The Bulls finished the month of November with a 12-2 record but improved in each of the next two months, going 13-1 in December and 14-0 in January, running their record to 39-3 after three months. In February, the Bulls ran their record to 41-3 and became the fastest NBA team to 41 wins, again besting the 71-72 Lakers previous record. In February, March and April the Bulls stayed just as hot going 11-3,Authentic Ravens Jerseys On Sale, 12-2 and 10-2 respectively, before ending the season with a combined 72-10 record. Against Seattle on this day, the Bulls were without Dennis Rodman, while Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen combined to go just 13 of 35 from the floor and scored 40 points. By comparison, Gary The Glove Payton and Shawn Reign Man Kemp went 20 of 29 from the field for a total of 51 points as Seattle out-shot the Bulls .602% to .453%. Even with the loss, the Bulls would set an NBA record that season for road wins going 33-8. After the incredible regular season, the Bulls didn t cool off, going 15-3 in the playoffs for a combined total record of 87-13. The Supersonics won three of those 13 games,Cheap New York Giants Jerseys On Sale, while the Indiana Pacers were the only other team to beat them more than once that season winning two games in the regular season by a total of five points. Nederland defense stuffs Kingwood Park - Sports &raq

First, the Bulldogs took down Kingwood Park 28-7 Saturday with a suffocating defense that limited the Panthers to 124 yards and seven first downs.
Now Nederland will face Georgetown in the Area Round next weekend. Georgetown eliminated Nederland last year in the Regional Finals, 38-6. The two teams are slated to play at 2 p.m. Saturday at Bowers Stadium on the campus of Sam Houston State University in Huntsville.
You always want to play the team who beat you last, Nederland running back Kendrick Hopkins said. We remember last year real well.
The Bulldogs were monsters on defense again Saturday against the Panthers. Kingwood Park rushed for 82 yards and passed for 42,Manchester United lose Michael Carrick for six weeks due to

Manchester United lose Michael Carrick for six weeks due to. Kingwood Park s dual-threat quarterback Jaylon Henderson was held to 69 yards on 24 carries. He entered the game with 967 rushing yards.
Once again Colton Kimler seemed to be everywhere in the secondary. He had two interceptions Saturday to up his total to six interceptions in the last two games. Kimler had four interceptions in the Bulldogs final District 20-4A game against Beaumont Central.
We have been here before, Kimler said. We know what it takes to get to this round. We don t look ahead or look past any opponent. Kingwood Park was a very physical team. They played hard to the last snap. I give them a lot of credit.
Neumann was once again impressed with his All-State safety.
Colton is a ball hog, Neumann said. He understands routes and being a receiver he has an insight to what players might try to do against him on defense. It is not an accident Colton is starting to put on a show.
Kingwood Park s offense was no match for a Nederland defense that showcased a line which powered past the Panthers offensive line. Caleb Malveaux, DeShawn Washington, Beau Stewart and Connor Hughes spent a lot of time in the Panthers backfield.
That is the same stuff we have been doing all year long, Neumann said. Those guys are really playing at a high level right now.
Sage Seay had an interception and a sack for the Bulldogs.
While the defense was bullying the Panthers, the Bulldogs offense was slow to get moving in the first half.
Nederland finished with only 207 yards, with 62 on the ground and 145 in the air.
Preston White was 13-for-19 for 145 yards,Cheap New York Giants Jerseys On Sale. Seay had four receptions for 50 yards while Kimler had four catches for 47 yards.
Hopkins was held in check by a very physical Panthers defense, managing a season-low 27 yards on 15 carries. He did score the Bulldogs first two touchdowns, on runs of two and nine yards in the second quarter, but was sidelined for several plays due to a reoccurring ankle injury.
Neumann said the most impressive park of Hopkins career has been the fact the runner has played with a variety of injuries.
Not many people know that about him, Neumann said. He plays hurt or a little banged up and has had an excellent career in the process.
Hopkins is expected to be ready to go against Georgetown.
Austin Krautz made it 21-0 on the Bulldogs first possession of the second half off a 30-yard touchdown scamper.
The two teams traded punts before Seay was able to come away with his interception.
Nederland was set up on its 5-yard line and Neumann decided to throw a wrinkle in the offensive plans.
White dropped back to pass but instead of Seay and Kimler in the end zone running to get open, it was Malveaux and Washington.
White threw a pass just over Malveaux s helmet and Washington, with his 6-foot, 3-inch and 285-pound frame, had to outleap defenders to come down with the touchdown reception.
We work on that play but in practice we throw the ball a little higher so that DeShawn doesn t have to outjump defenders, Neumann said. It worked for six though today.
Kingwood Park finally got on the board with 2:15 left in the game as backup quarterback Zach Prucell hit Joey Chapman for a 13-yard touchdown. NEDERLAND 28, KINGWOOD PARK 7

RealGM Blog- Euroleague Interview Alexis Ajinca Of Strasbour
<html>Euroleague Interview: Alexis Ajinca Of Strasbourg IG By: Nov 19, 2013 7:48 PM EST
There have been many cases when, after failing to meet expectations in the NBA, young big men return to Europe and are just another guy. However, this is not the case with 25-year-old Alexis Ajinca. The French center successfully restarted his career in Europe after spending three seasons on the benches of NBA teams and is now considered one of the best centers in the Euroleague. Ajinca is currently the second top scorer in the Euroleague this season, averaging 19.4 points and 6.6 rebounds in 28 minutes per game. Ajinca was also a big part of France's national team, which succeeded in EuroBasket 2013 and won the gold in Slovenia. RealGM caught up with Ajinca to talk about the restart of his career, his plans to get back to the NBA, France's national team and much more. RealGM: First of all, speaking of your current team Strasbourg IG, what were your individual expectations for this Euroleague season? Ajinca: We want to finish in the Top 16 in the Euroleague, to be able to do something pretty good in the Euroleague and win a championship. That s always the main goal. RealGM: Back in the 2006-07 season,[4], you had a chance to taste Euroleague for only eight minutes, but now you ve finally got a real opportunity to see what is Euroleague all about. What is your impression about this competition so far? Ajinca: It has improved a lot since then. I ve been playing more than I used to. I ve learned a lot with Coach (Vincent) Collet. He s taught me a lot as a big man. RealGM: You ve been playing for Strasbourg IG for the last three years. What are the reasons that made you stay in one place for a long time while you could have signed with a top European team? Or is it just the financial aspect? Ajinca: It was the fact that I liked working with the coach I have, the national team coach. It was a great thing to be able to come back and play with him. It was a very good opportunity. RealGM: Taking you back to EuroBasket 2013, could you highlight your top three moments from that time in Slovenia that you will remember for a long time? Ajinca: I would say my 25 points against Latvia. I played a good game. That was one memory. Another memory is when we won against Spain, because that was the first time it happened in international competition. And another great memory is the celebration, when we won the title at the end. RealGM: As you discovered that Joakim Noah,Authentic Ravens Jerseys On Sale, Ronny Turiaf and Ian Mahimi wouldn't be available for EuroBasket 2013, and you re the top big inside the paint, what was your mindset prior the start of the competition? Ajinca: Well,Shop Indianapolis Colts Jerseys, my mind was set to go to the national team and play as hard as I could to be able to lead the team. When I heard that some players weren t coming, it was disappointing. I wanted to compare myself to them to see how far I ve come. RealGM: Tony Parker praised your game and your improvement since 2009. How does it feel to hear good words from one of the best point guards in the world? Ajinca: Very thankful. It means that everything I ve been working on all those years has been paying off, so I m blessed that someone like him would recognize the work that I ve put in. It s great. He took me under his wing and taught me how to do things. It was great. I really enjoyed playing with him. RealGM: If all the best French players who didn t play in EuroBasket 2013 would suit up, where France could finish at the upcoming World Championship? Ajinca: I don t know. Probably in the top three. RealGM: Could you talk a bit about Vincent Collet and your relationship with him? You spent the last couple of seasons playing under him with both the French national team and Strasbourg IG. Ajinca: He s a very good coach. He takes time to teach people how to react to certain situations. He s always been great to me. Always taking time to teach me how to do things. I m grateful I found a coach like that. RealGM: As you had a successful EuroBasket 2013 and you re one of the best big men in Euroleague, what path would you prefer to go for the next season - joining an elite Euroleague team or coming back to the NBA? Ajinca: My dream is to one day become a very good NBA player, but right now I m just focused on this season. I want to be the best player I can be in Euroleague. RealGM: You said in 2011 that you re not sure if you make an attempt to make a comeback to the NBA. Does your great performance in EuroBasket 2013 and Euroleague gave you more confidence? Ajinca: Yeah,Andy Harper expects 'hypercom,Authentic Ravens Jerseys Sale, it gave me a lot more confidence. I can see myself playing against those big names and I m doing better, so it pretty much told me I m already better than I was before. RealGM: You played your last game in the NBA on April 13th, 2011. How do you think your game has changed since that time? Ajinca: I have been receiving playing time. It s just being able to play as good as I can and help my team as much as I can. RealGM: As you re still only 25 and you have European champion medal under your belt, what else would you like to achieve in your career? Ajinca: I want to win an NBA ring. I would love to be able to have an Olympic gold medal and the Euroleague Championship.</html>
Manny Pacquiao- 'I cried when I saw the devastation'
<html>Capturing Typhoon Haiyan from Space Boxing's first and only eight division world champion left his training camp in Genereal Santos City earlier this week to head to Macau, China, where his WBO International Welterweight title bout with Rios will take place. "Right now we've sent them food,Authentic Ravens Jerseys Sale, food is the most important thing," said Pacquiao, who is an elected official in the Philippine House of Representatives,Shop Indianapolis Colts Jerseys, serving Sarangani's Lone District. "After that I have to help give them a fresh start in their lives." Pacquiao dismissed suggestions that defeat to Rios, the American who has lost just one of his 33 professional bouts, could see him call time on his 18-year career. "I learned a lot," Pacquiao said of his loss to Marquez. "It's part of boxing,WTLC Daily Loud Links- Wednesday, November 13, 2013, sometimes you lose sometimes you win. <html>More and more, AT T Inc. is becoming a creator of content, not just a conduit.From aspiring filmmakers to the Dallas Cowboys, from lip-syncing country music fans to the Bonnaroo Music Arts Festival, the giant Dallas-based telecom is supporting efforts that produce video and other content that can be viewed on its networks.It’s all part of the great convergence of television, the Internet and wireless technology that is changing the way we watch, especially entertainment and live sports. And everyone is watching what Google and Apple do, Nandlall said.Speed, the great enablerThis year, Google and AT T both said they were bringing ultra-high-speed fiber service — speed, as always,Community Run on Saturday to Help Typhoon Haiyan Victims, is the great enabler — to Austin. “And that’s where the capital is going to be going over the next three years.”The company said nearly three-quarters of its U-verse customers have what it calls an “enhanced” experience every month, meaning they use an interactive TV application, watch content on a different device or online, or use a U-verse enabled app.Blurred linesIn this great convergence, the distinction between content creator, provider and carrier is blurring.When AT T and the Cowboys announced their naming rights deal for AT T Stadium in Arlington earlier this year, they also said they “will work together to deliver an interactive game day experience for fans like no other.”“This is about smartphones, pads, computers and technology,Authentic Ravens Jerseys Sale,” Stephen Jones, son of Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, told The Dallas Morning News at the time.“This was not just about settling for a naming rights deal … This is a bigger deal.”The possibilities are enticing. Because of the two-way nature of the technology, fans could be able to choose different camera angles for live action and replays,Authentic Ravens Jerseys On Sale, witness the game from quarterback Tony Romo’s perspective, and eavesdrop on Jerry as he watches his team.Whatever the eventual offerings become, it means more traffic on AT T’s networks. More video means more mobile data use. Wireless data is one of the company’s fastest-growing business segments, with revenue up nearly 18 percent in the third quarter to $5.5 billion. As a whole,Mind over math- How best to erase debt-, the company generates more than $125 billion in annual revenue.The same concept — more video views, more network use — is at work in AT T’s other content-related efforts. Some examples:After considering thousands of pitches in a contest for aspiring filmmakers called “Take Your Shot,Shop Indianapolis Colts Jerseys,” AT T and ISAtv provided professional mentors from Wong Fu Productions to three young filmmakers who used AT T smartphones to shoot videos. The next seven years, your viewing experience is going to change dramatically.”</html>
