ORLANDO, Fla. -- No. 17 moved closer to the American Athletic Conference title with a dominating performance against struggling . passed for one touchdown and ran another Thursday night, helping the Knights win 41-17 to remain unbeaten in league play. UCF 9-1, 6-0 won for the sixth straight time following a three-point loss to South Carolina, retaining sole possession of first place in the AAC -- one game ahead of Louisville and Cincinnati. "I thought Blake was pretty much on the whole game," UCF coach George O'Leary said. "They put a lot of pressure on him, but he was exceptional as far as taking plays that weren't there and making something good out of them." Bortles threw a 4-yard TD pass to in the opening quarter and UCF scored on its first four offensive possessions to build a 28-7 lead. Rutgers 5-5,[http://www.zhuangxiutuzhan.com/read.php?tid=317062&ds=1 4.12 Memorial erected for CHP trooper killed in 1963],[http://www.nflcustomic.com 4.12 cheap nike broncos jerseys], 2-4 trimmed its deficit to 14 before the half when recovered a blocked punt in the end zone. However, that was as close as the Scarlet Knights got. "There's no surprise why they're having the season they're having," Rutgers coach Kyle Flood said. "Their quarterback is an exceptional player, excellent decision-maker,[http://www.nflcustomic.com 4.12 cheap broncos jerseys], and very accurate passer. We had opportunities to get him on the ground in the first half, and we couldn't do it." Flood's team has lost four of five following a 4-1 start. The Scarlet Knights have been outscored 166-58 in the losses, all against conference opponents. For the second straight week, they fell behind early and were forced to abandon the running game. was limited to 20 yards rushing on 12 attempts. Bortles,[http://www.nflcustomic.com 4.12 cheap broncos jerseys free shipping], meanwhile, completed 21 of 30 passes for 335 yards and no interceptions. The redshirt junior scored on a 7-yard run in the second quarter, finishing one of three TD drives he led covering 79 or more yards. J.J. Worton, whose one-handed, highlight-reel catch in the back of the end zone helped UCF rally for a victory over last-place Temple five days earlier, had his second straight 100-yard receiving game with five catches for 117 yards. rushed for 75 yards and scored on runs of 1 and 12 yards. UCF has won five games by seven or fewer points this season, but this one was never in doubt. The Knights moved 69 yards in eight plays following the opening kickoff to take an early lead on Bortles' TD pass to Perriman and marched right down the field again to go up 14-0 on Johnson's first TD after intercepted when Rutgers' quarterback threw into double coverage. Johnson's 11th rushing touchdown of the season completed a 14-play, 86-yard drive that made it 21-0 midway through the second quarter. Despite amassing a season-best 657 yards of total offense against Temple, Bortles had to lead his team to 10 points in the final 66 seconds to beat the Owls 39-36 to remain atop the conference standings last Saturday. Two weeks ago, the Knights held off Houston after leading 6-0 at the half. "I think this team needed this kind of game," O'Leary said. "We got a chance to play a lot of kids," O'Leary said. "I told the kids luck runs out, talent usually wins." Bortles agreed. "Nobody would script a game the way the last couple have gone. I'd rather win this way," Bortles said. "I like the script more the way it went tonight. That's why we work so hard all week,[http://580law.com.cn/plus/view.php?aid=160183 4.12 Malala’s inspiring story reminds us how luc], so we can come out and execute the way we did." Rutgers was unable to move the ball with any consistency. Nova was 11 of 34 passing for 107 yards, no touchdowns and one interception. The Scarlet Knights' biggest gainer was 38-yard run on a fake punt play that accounted for more than half the 71 yards Rutgers marched to score on 1-yard run on fourth down. blocked the punt that Patton recovered for a TD, cutting UCF's lead to 28-14 just before halftime. "There was a lot of positive energy in the locker room," Flood said. "We had a lot of momentum." But the Scarlet Knights couldn't sustain it and didn't score again until kicked a 35-yard field goal in the final minute. Bortles finished the rout by leading drives that produced two second-half field goals and leading another long drive that capped with a 1-yard TD run early in the fourth quarter.

11/22/2013 11:50:52 PM PST
Golden State Warriors forward Andre Iguodala, left, puts up a shot as Los Angeles Lakers center Jordan Hill defends during the first half of an NBA basketball game,[http://www.nflcustomic.com 4.12 cheap broncos nike jerseys], Friday, Nov. 22, 2013, in Los Angeles. (AP Photo/Mark J. Terrill) (Mark J. Terrill)LOS ANGELES -- The Warriors already were struggling, with point guard Stephen Curry wearing a blazer for the second consecutive game because of a mild concussion. Then late in the third quarter, they lost Andre Iguodala to a strained left hamstring."Normally, I can just run it off or it would go away," Iguodala said. "But once I heard a pop, I knew it was serious."Down arguably their two best players, the Warriors were no match for a Lakers squad that smelled blood. Los Angeles styled its way to a 102-95 revenge victory Friday night. The same Lakers squad Golden State blew out by 31 back in Oakland had the Warriors looking like the makeshift team hoping to finish .500.The Warriors (8-5) shot just 41.5 percent and fueled the Lakers' transition game with 19 turnovers. But it was their defense that let them down.Burned by lapse after lapse, the Warriors allowed 47.6 percent shooting. Several of the Lakers' 11 3-pointers were wide-open looks because the Golden State defender lost his man. Coach Mark Jackson refused to blame that on the injuries. "Just disappointing. They outworked us," Jackson said. "We're a no-excuse basketball team. ... We'll be fine. But we cannot walk away with a good taste with how we played and the effort we put forth."Four of the Warriors' top eight players are now injured. In addition to Curry and Iguodala, the Warriors are also without backup point guard Toney Douglas (stress reaction, left tibia) and backup center Jermaine O'Neal (bruised right knee, mild right groin strain).Only one of the four -- Curry -- has a chance of playing when the Warriors' play host to the Portland Trail Blazers on Saturday.Since he sustained the concussion on Monday, Curry's had three noncontact sessions: individual work at Thursday's voluntary practice,[http://www.chinavu.org/plus/view.php?aid=527330 4.12 8 details you might have forgotten about the JFK a], Friday's shootaround, and pregame drills before the game. But Curry still hasn't taken the final test. Before being cleared to play, he needs to participate in full-contact activity and emerge symptom free. That Curry still hasn't taken that step could be a sign he still has symptoms from the noncontact work he's done. Or, perhaps, the Warriors -- who would have to craft a situation for Curry since everything has been light since Wednesday -- don't want to force it to get Curry back on the court. Either way, he's no guarantee to play when Oakland native Damian Lillard makes his first visit as reigning NBA Rookie of the Year. The Warriors certainly have their issues without Curry. Golden State was still in position to win.Guard Klay Thompson, who finished with 19 points on 20 shots, hit a 3-pointer. Then forward Harrison Barnes followed with a steal and a fast-break dunk. The Lakers' lead was down to 61-60 with 6:40 left in the third quarter. At the 4:23 mark, Iguodala drilled a 3-pointer from the top of the key, tying the game at 63. But a minute later, after his pass was intercepted,[http://www.nflcustomic.com 4.12 cheap broncos jerseys free shipping], Iguodala came up limping at half-court while playing defense. He immediately grabbed his hamstring and started hopping toward the bench. After the game, he could hardly walk. He said this injury "worries him a little bit" but that he doesn't expect to be out too long. He said he has an MRI scheduled for Saturday morning. "My body's been pretty good to me so far," Iguodala said. "I take care of it,[http://srel.lu/index.php/Benotzer:Hykamjfh4#Abu_Dhabi_blaze_building_residents_forced_to_sleep_outside_a 4.12 Abu Dhabi blaze building residents forced to sleep outside a], so (I'll be back) sooner than everyone thinks." Iguodala had been the starting point guard with Curry out. He played 48-plus minutes in the overtime loss to the visiting Memphis Grizzlies on Wednesday, all at point guard. With their top three options on the shelf -- and Kent Bazemore struggling at the position, and rookie Nemanja Nedovic still too inexperienced for the role -- the Warriors found themselves in a tough spot. They entered the fourth quarter down 12 points and had no one to facilitate the offense.Still, Golden State managed its highest-scoring quarter of the game. The Warriors scored 32 points by consistently attacking the rim. They didn't shoot a high percentage, but they managed nine offensive rebounds, racked up 18 points in the paint and eight at the line. The problem was defense. They were unfocused and lacked the aggression that kept them close against better teams such as San Antonio and Memphis. The Lakers knocked down four of their 11 3-pointers in the fourth quarter, all of them wide-open because of defensive lapses."I don't think we gave our best effort. We didn't play hard enough," Draymond Green said. "That's not how we got to where we are. ... When you let your shots determine how you play defense,[http://www.nflcustomic.com 4.12 cheap nike broncos jerseys], that's bad. Let's defend people, and then shots will fall." == Auditor’s report won’t end Columbus schools scandal ==
+
+

The state investigation into student-data fraud in Columbus schools appears to be nearly
+
complete. The state auditor said a draft report of the findings will be on his desk by the first
+
week of December.
+
That doesn’t mean it’s all over, nor that the report will be declared final and released right
+
away, said Carrie Bartunek, State Auditor Dave Yost’s spokeswoman. But it is an indication that the
+
17 months of on-the-ground work are winding down for the team of investigators and auditors who
+
analyzed computer records, interviewed teachers and served search warrants for student records at
+
high schools.
+
Meanwhile, a federal prosecutor in Columbus is examining evidence from the state investigation
+
and a separate probe by the FBI, weighing whether there’s enough to pursue criminal charges, said
+
Fred Alverson, a spokesman for the U.S. attorney’s office in Columbus. He said he can’t comment
+
specifically about the investigation or whether indictments are likely.
+
After promising swift action this past summer against employees who manipulated student data,
+
Columbus City Schools officials have reversed course and again decided to wait for the state and
+
federal findings. That means that only three employees who were found to have played key roles in
+
the data scandal have been forced out since
+
The Dispatch first reported in June 2012 that Columbus employees had been tampering with
+
student data.
+
In addition, then-Superintendent Gene Harris retired in June, saying her departure had nothing
+
to do with the data scandal. Three other administrators who made student-data changes left of their
+
own accord over the summer or this fall.
+
But the district’s internal auditor referred as many as 30 employees for possible discipline
+
after her investigation ended last December. The district’s computer files show that hundreds of
+
district employees made significant changes in student data.
+
In a letter responding to questions from
+
The Dispatch,[http://www.immaginifico.com/EfictionHQ/e107_plugins/forum/forum_viewtopic.php?10187.last 4.12 VIDEO- Northeastern's David Walker dunks all over CCSU], interim Superintendent Dan Good acknowledged that what he described as “a
+
small number” of administrators identified by the internal auditor still work in the district.
+
“Please be assured that, while there may be the perception that our interest in pursuing
+
employment action has waned, we continue to vigorously pursue this issue,[http://www.nflcustomic.com 4.12 cheap broncos nike jerseys],” Good wrote.
+
The district must “avoid embroiling the district in unnecessary and potentially very expensive
+
personnel-related litigation,” Good wrote.
+
It makes more sense to wait until evidence from the investigations is presented, he wrote,
+
rather than move ahead and risk being sued. The Ohio Department of Education also is waiting until
+
the investigations are done until it takes action against the educator licenses of those
+
involved.
+
The state auditor has been examining student-data fraud in the district since July 2012. Some
+
Columbus employees withdrew students without their knowledge, presumably so their poor test scores
+
wouldn’t count; deleted kids’ absences; and changed student grades without explanation. The FBI
+
began investigating last October.
+
Good said in the letter that, in most or all of the cases in which secretaries changed data,
+
they were directed to do so by a school principal or assistant principal. They will not be
+
disciplined unless there is evidence that they acted on their own or clearly understood that making
+
the changes was wrong. That’s the first time the district has made a public statement about which
+
group of employees would be held accountable.
+
Teachers haven’t been implicated in wrongdoing.
+
Some top-level administrators were implicated early on. Steve Tankovich,[http://www.nflcustomic.com 4.12 cheap nike broncos jerseys],[http://bbs.ssxsjx.com/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=417637 4.12 Antioch woman changes diet, recovers from Crohn's], the district’s former
+
data czar who has been accused of orchestrating the data manipulation,[http://www.nflcustomic.com 4.12 cheap broncos jerseys free shipping], resigned eight months ago.
+
He has not spoken publicly about his involvement.
+
Michael Dodds, who oversaw several schools and their principals, retired in January, saying he
+
was being made a scapegoat but hadn’t done anything wrong. And Stanley K. Pyle, an assistant
+
principal who changed hundreds of student grades in a single school year, retired at the end of
+
last school year. He also has not spoken publicly.
+
The district has said it asked those three administrators to leave. Officials have said other
+
administrators who have left did so without district intervention.
+
The question of whether wrongdoers remained in the district was a central issue in the November
+
election in which the district sought voter approval of a 9.01-mill combined levy/bond issue. It
+
was overwhelmingly voted down.
+
Some of the most-prominent voices in the anti-levy movement say voters were turned off by the
+
district’s apparent inaction against those responsible for data tampering.
+
Jonathan Beard’s anti-levy group — No Cheaters, No Charters — urged Columbus residents to vote
+
against the November levy in part because many of the implicated employees remain in the
+
district.
+
“I’ve never seen people so angry and offended as I’ve seen with this incident,” he said. “They’r
+
e acting like we’re stupid, like we’re children that haven’t formed opinions based on facts.”

RB Nyheim Hines of Garner, NC did not make it to USC as he had planned for the Florida game but said he will make it in for the Clemson game this Saturday. Hines went to Tennessee this past weekend and was at Duke before that. Virginia Tech was the most recent school to offer and that happened last week. He also has offers from USC, Clemson, NC State, North Carolina, East Carolina,[http://www.nflcustomic.com 4.12 broncos jerseys cheap],[http://218.85.136.170/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=4799868&fromuid=266986 4.12 Alleged victim in Jameis Winston case did not want charges filed], Duke, Wake Forest,[http://www.nflcustomic.com 4.12 cheap nike broncos jerseys], Tennessee and Connecticut. Hines said he's in touch with Clemson recruiter Robbie Caldwell and USC assistants Spurrier Jr. and Joe Robinson. Hines said he has not formulated a favorite's list and all the schools which have offered are under consideration. He plans to graduate early and wants to make his commitment around next October. As for Clemson and USC, Hines said his interest level is high. "I've been a Clemson fan since I was in the second or third grade. I love Clemson. South Carolina,[http://www.nflcustomic.com 4.12 cheap broncos jerseys free shipping], I've been a fan of them too, but you know you can't really be both,[http://vk.ayy.fi/wiki/index.php?title=K%C3%A4ytt%C3%A4j%C3%A4:Gyvsayyy7#Gunmen_kill_Egypt_anti 4.12 Gunmen kill Egypt anti], so I'm just really neutral." As for who he's going to root for Saturday...."I don't know. I'm pulling for a good game. If they score 40 points and win by 3, I like that. A high scoring, close game, that's what I'm pulling for. I just want to see a good game from both sides of the offense." USC and Clemson like Hines as a slot receiver. Hines has rushed for around 2700 yards and has scored 51 touchdowns this season.

+
If the problem isn t solved I ll cancel my subscription. I m not paying for one game a weekend, Mr Spours said. There was no indication on the as to why the service had been changed. The changes to the English Premier League will only affect Saturday 3pm kick-offs, which means that we can only show one live Saturday 3pm GMT match in each match week,[http://www.nflcustomic.com 4.12 cheap nike broncos jerseys], the broadcaster s customer service centre said.

We are still able to show all games on delay, which means that the game must not start until two hours after its original kick-off time. All other games are unaffected. The company claimed it was not responsible for the reduced service. These changes are from the EPL committee and we have nothing to do with them based on the contract. Presenter Richard Keys received a number of questions on social media as to why the other games were unavailable. He cited contractual issues as a cause.
+
Problems beyond our control. Sorry. Normal service will be resumed soon as, Keys said to one viewer. Many viewers took to Twitter to vent their frustrations. I was disappointed today that four English Premier League matches were not broadcast in any of Al Jazeera Sport channels, said Twitter user Mohammed Kamal. Anyone know what exactly is going on with Al Jazeera Sport Premier League coverage? asked Hisham Mongy.

A Dubai Twitter user suggested that viewers turn to clandestine means of watching games if they could not do so through the channels. We ll all end up watching illegal streams and how do the Premier League benefit from that? he tweeted.Al Jazeera Sport was on July 15 this year.Under the terms of the agreement, it was given exclusive broadcasting rights in Middle East and North Africa for all 380 Barclays Premier League matches each season for 2013-2014 to 2015-16.

== Kansas Jayhawks and Kansas State Wildcats Chasing Different ==
+
+

Nov 23,[http://www.nflcustomic.com 4.12 cheap nike broncos jerseys], 2013; Ames, IA, USA; Kansas Jayhawks head coach Charlie Weis leaves the field at half time against the Iowa State Cyclones at Jack Trice Stadium. +
Whether it s for the football game or the basketball game, the buzz the Sunflower Showdown generates has rarely been lower.
+
Talk amongst KU fans has been centered around Andrew Wiggins, Joel Embid and Wayne Selden, and where to watch the games if you don’t have Time Warner cable. Talk in Manhattan is about where they’re headed for this years bowl game.
+
For all intents and purposes, football season in Lawrence ended on September 27th this year. That’s the ridiculously early date Bill Self and his basketball team logged practice number one.
+
The Jayhawks football team was 2-1 at that point, but it’s conference schedule tailspin would begin the following week with a 54-16 loss to Texas Tech, and it didn’t look like Charlie Weis would be able to pull them out of it in 2013.
+
The celebration last week after KU’s improbable 31-19 victory over the West Virginia Mountaineers, was a celebration three years in the making. Digging out of the hole Turner Gill left,[http://www.nflcustomic.com 4.12 cheap broncos nike jerseys], has proved to be far tougher than Charlie Weis imagined. Last year people laughed when Charlie Weis had his team practice how they would celebrate after a game winning field goal. I bet he didn’t think it would be another 15 months before they’d get to put that practice to good use because of a conference win.
+
Last week was progress. But it was progress that lingered only briefly. Because the Jayhawks didn’t use that victory to take another step forward. They went to Ames, Iowa and were clobbered by an absolutely dreadful Iowa State team, 34-0. The weather certainly played a role in the debacle, but Iowa State seemed just fine in the bone chilling cold. The Jayhawks were shut out by a Cyclone team that coming into the game was giving up 39 points a game. Just watching the game, the KU players looked like they would have rather been anywhere on earth other than Jack Trice Stadium. I’d quit too if i was on a ?three win team playing in sub-zero wind chills.
+
The opportunity was there to have all of the momentum heading into this years Sunflower Showdown.
+
As ludicrous as this sounds, I almost think KU overlooked Iowa State. How a program that has been as putrid as KU has been, could overlook anyone is beyond me. Getting shut out by Iowa State and giving up 34 points, was head scratching, even for the Jayhawks. It certainly didn’t appear that KU was prepared for any kind of fight from the Cyclones.
+
KU players revealed yesterday that they’ve had a countdown clock in their locker room, counting down to the Sunflower Showdown. Charlie Weis said last week that this was KU’s “bowl game.” It will certainly be a bowl game atmosphere, with half of the crowd wearing purple and half wearing red and blue.
+
The thing is, the Wildcats are playing for actual bowl position. Win and they likely end up in San Diego in the Holiday Bowl. Lose, and they will probably travel to Houston for the Texas Bowl.
+
K-State was playing good football heading into last weeks matchup with Oklahoma. But the Wildcat defense was unable to stop the Sooner running attack, ending K-State s four game winning streak. The week before is was TCU that caused issues for the K-State defense, so it s not as if the Wildcats enter the 111th Sunflower Showdown with loads of confidence.
+
This rivalry means so much to Snyder that I believe the 31-28 loss to KU in 2004 was a major factor that led to Bill Snyder announcing his retirement following the 2005 season. In turn, witnessing the Ron Prince coached Wildcats from the press box get manhandled by KU three straight years, 39-20, 30-24, and 52-21, led to him coming out of retirement.
+

+
Snyder believes in the “one game at a time” mantra, almost to the point of ridiculousness. The countdown clock in the K-State football offices, counts down to the next opponent. Regardless of if it’s North Dakota State, Louisiana-Lafayette or KU, it’s always the next opponent. It’s often coach speak, but he believes it more than any other coach. Snyder’ would never admit it,[http://www.nflcustomic.com 4.12 cheap broncos jerseys], but he wants to win this game more than any other game on K-State’s schedule. His dominance of KU is well documented, winning 16 of his last 17 chances against the Jayhawks. Since 1993, his teams have outscored KU 691-185.

His distaste for KU goes so deep he once ran his No. 1 defense back on to the field late in a game that he led 64-0 in 2002. The Jayhawks were threatening to ruin the shutout and Snyder was not pleased. The defensive starters returned and they easily kept KU from scoring.
+
This game shouldn’t be close. K-State has the talent edge and a definitive edge in coaching. Vegas made the Wildcats an early 17.5 point favorite. The Wildcat margin of victory has only been less than that three times in the past 20 years.
+
But I actually believe this might be a tight contest for at least three quarters. And if it is, anything is possible. Weis will pull out all the stops, much like last season when he used a fake punt and a fake field goal on the same drive to grab the early momentum.
+
The K-State defense without the services of senior safety isn’t very good. About the only thing KU does right is run the ball and that was a huge issue for the Wildcats last week. The problem KU has is on defense. K-State, when clicking offensively has been tough for anyone to stop. The two-headed quarterback attack has been largely effective for the past month, but one turnover by either or can change that quickly. Waters is streaky. When he’s on,[http://mntlab.sakura.ne.jp/bbs/kakikomitai.cgi 4.12 Zumba instructor in prostitut], he’s deadly. Especially to . When he’s off, he’s a turnover machine.
+
If the Wildcat team that traveled to Texas Tech and crushed them 55-24 shows up in Lawrence, the Jayhawks have no chance. But if the K-State team that played against Texas or even North Dakota State shows up, the Jayhawks have a real shot.
+
The only question left is which version of the Sunflower Showdown will have the largest margin of victory? My vote is for men’s basketball where KU already has a win over top five team Duke on its resume,[http://www.xiweikang.net/%E7%94%A8%E6%88%B7:Iyegkyyb0#Chris_Smith_has_a_Tattoo_of_J.R._Smith_on_his_back <span class="Chris Smith has a Tattoo of J.R.
When I went to sleep late Monday, after watching Arizona State beat Marquette, I figured Tuesday morning's update to the Top 25 and one would be simple. Take Marquette out. Dayton, for the time being,[http://www.nflcustomic.com 4.12 cheap broncos jerseys free shipping], took Arizona State's spot because, I think, Dayton's perfect record featuring a win over Gonzaga trumps Arizona State's perfect record featuring a win over Marquette.Simple as that.So that's the bad news, ASU.But here's the good news: Creighton is on the schedule next. == Commuter Dude- Listening to your comments on Johnson Ferry f ==
+
+

SANDY SPRINGS, Ga - Commuters are still sounding off about an unpopular four way stop in Sandy Springs, and 11Alive is committed to letting the city know how you feel.
+
11Alive's Commuter Dude has been following the story of the four way stop at Johnson Ferry Road and Wright Road since early this year. Commuters complain that it backs traffic more than a quarter mile at times.
+
+
+
But neighbors say it has made the area safer.
+
One driver emailed Commuter Dude,[http://www.pzbaixing.com/home.php?mod=space&uid=75995 4.12 ], calling the intersection a "nightmare."
+
Another said, "I despise that stop sign. It can add 15 minutes to my drive. I hate it."
+
But a nearby homeowner emailed Commuter Dude to say that the four way stop has given her freedom.
+
"It was difficult to get out of my neighborhood," she writes. "The stop sign has helped with that problem. Taking that stop sign down would cause me to stay at that intersection much longer."
+
Commuter Dude has received dozens of comments he will pass on to the city of Sandy Springs. The assistant city manager says council members will make a decision next year on possible changes.

== Red Sox exploring trade options behind the plate ==
+
+

The Red Sox are exploring all their options to find their catcher for 2014 which Ben Cherington says has included talks with multiple teams about potential trades, .
+
"We have interest in a small handful of free agents,[http://www.nflcustomic.com 4.12 cheap broncos jerseys china]," Cherington said. "We've also talked to teams about trades. And we also think we're in a pretty strong position long-term with the young catching we have in the organization. And so we're in a position to be a little choosy, a little selective. If we could do something there,[http://www.avis.ne.jp/cgi-usr/anpie_kokusaika_bbs.cgi 4.12 Can flying cars rescue commut], we'd love to. So we'll see what happens."
+
It might seem odd to take a stance of strength with the market having suddenly thinned out with Brian McCann and Carlos Ruiz signing elsewhere, but there's more ways to look at it than just what's available on the market. The implication from Cherington is that, while the team might want some insurance for 2014, the presence of Daniel Butler, Christian Vazquez, and Blake Swihart (really, in the opposite order) makes them feel they are not in desperate need of an answer behind the plate.
+
If that's the case, then the message is clear for Jarrod Saltalamacchia, whose return to Boston has been up in the air since free agency began: the Red Sox don't need a long-term answer, and aren't eager to commit to one for too many years.
+
In fact, it's worth noting that Cherington doesn't even frame the position as one that needs solving, simply one the could do with upgrading. "If we could do something there, we'd love to" implies that there's the possibility that they don't. Perhaps a sign that the likes of A.J. Pierzynski, John Buck,[http://www.nflcustomic.com 4.12 broncos jerseys cheap], and Dioner Navarro aren't worth signing to play in front of Triple-A catchers Daniel Butler and Christian Vazquez.
+
Still, the real spark to this is mention of trades. There's nothing to help make the pall of a thin free agent market at a position of need than opening up the rest of the league's stock. Unfortunately,[http://www.nflcustomic.com 4.12 cheap broncos jerseys free shipping], though, unless we're going to have a real bombshell with a player not expected to be on the market, chances are the return from any trade would be underwhelming as well.
+
The Red Sox were in on Ruiz and McCann, and Cherington says the speed at which they were snapped up wasn't a surprise. It's hard to feel like the market hasn't passed them by, but now that it has, that does kind of leave them in the position of strength Cherington mentions. When you're dealing with a bunch of flawed options, the upside of winding up with the best one over any of the others becomes pretty marginal. The Red Sox may not end up with much to show for it behind the plate,[http://www13.plala.or.jp/gakuki3/cgi_bin/aska/aska.cgi 4.12 Golden State Warriors vs. Okl], but it seems they will at least not make an imperfect situation that much worse by panicking.

== Question of the Week- Is Delino DeShields, Jr. judged unfair ==
+
+

Once again, we've got a question for you to debate. This week, it's about one of Houston's most polarizing prospects. when Delino DeShields, Jr. was selected to the Organization :
+
"There are a lot of people talking about how he had an off year and hurt his prospect status, stuff like that," Goldstein said. "I hope all our guys have off years and hit .317. You know, please give me that."
+
There's a disconnect between the player DDJ is and the player we assume he can be. At least, that's the only way I can describe what Goldstein is getting at here. So, I wondered to the TCB staff email list last week whether or not DDJ would have been viewed differently if he hadn't been drafted so highly.
+
Specifically, I asked this: if Houston drafts DDJ where they drafted instead, is he still considered a disappointment? Are his expectations set artificially high because of where he was picked in the draft?
+
Two TCBers stepped up, drew straws and picked sides. Here's what they had to say:
+
Terri Schlather: Yes, perception is hurting DDJ
+
Scouting and rating of prospects is always about perception really, right? So it stands to reason that our perception of a what a first round pick should be capable of will taint whatever we think about that pick throughout their career.
+
We'll either point and say, "I told you he was worth that first round pick," or we'll take a guy, like this one, who's a pretty darn good ball player and pick him apart because he didn't become the game's next great superstar. It's all about perception.
+
But lest we forget my other favorite part about drafts and prospects and developments - it's all a freaking crap shoot. Teams are playing the odds. There aren't any guarantees. Any first rounder can tank. Is it as likely as an 18th round pick? Nope, but it can happen.
+
So the toughest part of evaluating a prospect is likely ignoring the hype. Sit back and ignore what round they were chosen in and by whom. Ignore if they went to college, ignore who their father was and judge the player for what they do every single day on the field.
+
But it's damn near impossible. We're human and perception is everything. And we place a certain value on a first round guy,[http://bowling.s52.xrea.com/i/epad/epad.cgi?res=2463 4.12 Nationalism makes for bad eco], like they're all destined to be All Stars - some are, but if they aren't we deem them less than, because "we wasted a first round pick on that?"
+
But DDJ? He's a good ballplayer. Look at his record, look at his age, look at his level and ignore everything else. It's damn hard to do.
+
And to answer the question - if he'd been picked later, I think everyone would be much more excited about him. For the record, I think the magic was in the high socks and he needs to bring them back.
+
Anthony Boyer: No, draft position shouldn't matter in evaluating DDJ
+
The question of Delino DeShields, Jr. goes to the heart of prospect evaluation, and raises some incredibly thought-provoking questions about what colors our perception of a prospect.
+
Let's examine what we know about Delino DeShields, Jr. We know that he played the 2013 season as one of just twenty-seven players under the age of twenty-one who received at least 100 plate appearances in High-A ball. We know that he put up a 133 wRC+ while he was there, struck out less than 17% of the time, walked more than 10% of the time,[http://www.nflcustomic.com 4.12 cheap nike broncos jerseys],[http://zvsun.net/plus/view.php?aid=366970 4.12 Young chess player returns to board after disablin], and has stolen 152 bases in the last two seasons combined - not counting the 8 he had in the Arizona Fall League.
+
By all counts,[http://www.nflcustomic.com 4.12 cheap broncos nike jerseys], Delino DeShields, Jr. is a fantastic prospect. No one would dispute that. So, then, why does it seem like the prospect-evaluation community has suddenly soured on him? Certainly not because of his results,[http://www.nflcustomic.com 4.12 broncos jerseys cheap], which are good. Rather, his status has slipped for other reasons: Questions about his makeup, an influx of talent behind him in the ' system, a seeming lack of position, and the idea that he hasn't progressed rapidly enough from where he was at this time last season.
+
These are questions based on scouting and on context. Whether or not you agree that they have merit, none of them has anything to do with DeShields' draft position. They have to do with what people expect from a top 100 prospect. While it's true that most top prospects are also top draft picks, it's a case of correlation not equaling causation. Players are drafted highly because they are good players. They're also rated highly as prospects because they're good players - not because they're high draft picks.
+
What do you think? If DDJ were picked where Austin Wates was, would he be considered a better prospect?

"That particular point is backwards," said Jon Carson, executive director of OFA. "Most of this is actually aimed at people who have healthcare … and encouraging them to talk to people about what their options are for affordable care."
+
"Something like healthcare, someone isn’t going to sign up for it the very first time,[http://www.dtseguros.com.br/wiki/index.php?title=Usu%C3%A1rio:Hbwesdke7#Sketch_released_of_kidnapping_suspect 4.12 Sketch released of kidnapping suspect]," he said. OFA's campaign is designed to increase the number of times the uninsured are exposed to messages from those closest to them that they should consider getting insurance. Whether that's from a Facebook friend, someone at the coffee shop, or mom, it's going to take a fair bit of communicating to get people in the right frame of mind to sit down and sign up, Carson said. "We do think that moms are going to be a very important force in all this and that is exactly who we’ve been targeting."
+
All of this is very obvious from the video,[http://www.nflcustomic.com 4.12 cheap nike broncos jerseys], above, which is about parents having "the talk" with their uninsured son―not the other way around.

Enroll America, a group that's come online specifically to help get people signed up through the Affordable Care Act exchanges, has a similar effort,[http://www.doitrpg.org/wiki/index.php/%E7%94%A8%E6%88%B6:Rcbqtdwm7#Why_is_rain_unsafe_for_schoolchildren- 4.12 Why is rain unsafe for schoolchildren-], called the campaign.
+
And even though it's 2013, when it comes to anything involving the word home, that means women.
+
According to "marketing research and what we hear, especially for young people, the most trusted messenger is mothers," said Justin Nisly, a spokesman for Enroll America. "A big emphasis of it is making sure that women have enough information and have what they need to share that with their families ... our campaign is really focused on getting women the information that they need."

The reality is that women are still the primary caregivers when someone in the family gets sick,[http://www.nflcustomic.com 4.12 cheap broncos jerseys free shipping], and they make about 80 percent of family healthcare decisions, .

== Former Kansas City councilman Evert Asjes dies at age 77 ==
+
+

Asjes died Tuesday night after a long illness. He really loved Kansas City, and he believed he did important things for the city and loved doing it, said his wife, Susan. Asjes, a lifelong Kansas City resident, was first appointed to fill an unexpired seat on the City Council in 1981 but chose not to run for election in 1983 because he was busy running the Rosehill Gardens nursery, which his grandparents, immigrants from Holland,[http://www.nflcustomic.com 4.12 broncos jerseys cheap], had established in 1914. Asjes then decided to run for City Council in 1995 and won a close race against candidate Charlotte Hill for the 4th District at-large seat. He ran unopposed for a second term in 1999 and served until 2003. During those years, he served under mayors Emanuel Cleaver and Kay Barnes.Former City Council members Ed Ford and Teresa Loar remembered Asjes (pronounced ashes ) with great fondness, saying he was the wise elder statesman on the council and an adept leader as the finance committee chairman.Ford said that because Asjes had prior council experience and was somewhat older than most of the other council members, he had a calm and evenhanded perspective on issues.Ford recalled a time when he was getting all worked up over a minor argument about how Cleaver wanted to spend some tourism dollars. I was arguing against it, and as sometimes these things go,[http://www.nflcustomic.com 4.12 cheap broncos jerseys china], it got a little heated. Evert, from his seat, was motioning me to sit down. Ford realized Asjes was right, and he did sit down. It was not an issue I wanted to burn any bridges on, he said.Loar said Asjes was always the nice guy on the council,[http://bzwuye.com/Review.asp?NewsID=91 4.12 Tipping Is a Disgrace, but Where Did It Come From-], willing to listen to anyone. The one thing I ll remember is his laugh, she said. Nothing every really ruffled him. Asjes was also a past chair of the Center School District board and the Citizens Association political club,[http://zuotouwang.net/bbs/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=42038 4.12 Small Pacific island of Samoa has big reputation at Dubai Rugby Sevens], and he supported numerous community organizations.Born June 6, 1936, to Kathryn Duncan Asjes and Evert Asjes Jr.,[http://www.nflcustomic.com 4.12 cheap nike broncos jerseys], he graduated from Pembroke Country Day School for Boys and received a degree in landscape design from Kansas State University in 1958. == NBA News- Player News and Updates for 11-29-13 ==
+
+

Due to the Thanksgiving holiday shutting things down, the NBA was quiet yesterday with an empty schedule. The hardwood action will be ramping back up this evening, however, with a stuffed slate of 13 games on tap. While we’re waiting on the opening tips, let’s take a closer look at some of the noteworthy names out there who are making headlines this morning. Here’s the latest.
+
Raymond Felton, PG, New York Knicks: Today’s a good time to check out some of the injury situations around the league, so let’s start things out with Felton. He’s fresh off a hip injury that kept him sidelined for four games, but was able to play on Wednesday against the Clippers.
Felton was visibly in pain after the Knicks’ loss (and even said he wasn’t 100 percent), but said he hopes to be available this evening against the Nuggets. New York certainly needs him for ball distributions. He’s got at least five assists in his last four appearances.
+
Iman Shumpert, SG, New York Knicks: Let’s stick with the Knicks for a moment and check out Shumpert. He’s had a lot of trade rumors surrounding him so far this season, as speculation mounts that New York is willing to make a move to bolster their injured and underperforming lineup. You can strike this latest deal down,[http://daily.shanghai-ison.com.cn/plus/view.php?aid=1311022 4.12 The most invasive animals in the U.S. are ... pigs],[http://www.nflcustomic.com 4.12 cheap broncos nike jerseys], however, as it’s reportedly not going to happen.
Shumpert’s name had been mentioned in connection with Cleveland guard Dion Waiters, but the Knicks just aren’t interested. That makes sense--New York would be far more interested in trading for bigs at this point, due to their defensive inadequacies.
Shumpert, meanwhile,[http://www.58fx.net/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=339124&fromuid=268942 <span class="POLITICS- Sen. Lindsey Graham reacts to U.S. Senate "nuclear option"">4.12 POLITICS- Sen. Lindsey Graham reacts to U.S. Senate "nuclear option"], has managed just 12 combined points in his last four appearances.
+
Chris Paul, PG, Los Angeles Clippers: Before we check out for the day, we’ll swing over to L.A. to visit Paul, who developed into a minor injury concern in his last outing. He left Wednesday’s victory in the third quarter with a strained hamstring, but it’s reportedly a minor issue. Paul said it’s “a little tight” but he expects to be available for tonight’s game in Sacramento.
After producing like a machine to start the season, Paul has slowed down a bit in the last few games. He’s failed to record a double-double in two of the last three outings, the only times this year he hasn’t hit the mark.
+
NBA Daily Schedule: There will be no shortage of action this evening; the NBA will be getting right back to business with 13 games on tap. Here’s a look at the full schedule, along with the start times and TV networks where you can catch the games.

== Mortgage fee under fire in Kansas ==
+
+

Now comes a push in Topeka to abolish the larger of the two fees, one that costs the average Kansas homebuyer $460.But local government leaders say that would add up to millions in lost revenue they d have to replace chiefly with higher property taxes. It would create a significant tax shift, Johnson County Commission Chairman Ed Eilert said. There s no place else to go. The debate is centered on a nearly 100-year-old fee for registering a mortgage at the county courthouse.Kansas real estate agents and bankers say that when the Legislature returns to Topeka early next year they ll mount a battle to eliminate the fee. They argue homeowners pay twice for the same service.Opponents of the existing system say homebuyers should not pay one fee to register the mortgage and a second, smaller fee for the simple act of recording the paperwork with the register of deeds. Both fees are set by state law. Not only do you have to pay document recording fees, but the register of deeds turns around and makes you pay this additional tax,[http://www.nflcustomic.com 4.12 broncos jerseys cheap], said Luke Bell, lobbyist for the Kansas Association of Realtors. But counties aren t ready to give up an estimated $47 million in cash, including about $16 million for Johnson County. Losing the money would blow holes in their budgets that could mean property tax increases. The move to eliminate the mortgage registration fee is just another in a long line of negative actions affecting the ability of local governments to provide the services citizens require, Unified Government spokesman Mike Taylor said in an email. The debate will unfold at a time when many lawmakers are leery of any tax or fee that might hurt or slow business. Any time you can put money back in people s pockets, it s a good thing,[http://iwiki.bfsu.edu.cn/index.php/%E7%94%A8%E6%88%B7:Iyhnudhz1#In_big_week_for_Chiefs.2C_Dwayne_Bowe_drops_the_ball 4.12 In big week for Chiefs, Dwayne Bowe drops the ball], said state Sen. Julia Lynn,[http://www.nflcustomic.com 4.12 cheap broncos nike jerseys], an Olathe Republican and chair of the Senate Commerce Committee. That s a good chunk of change. What does that homeowner get for their mortgage fee? The mortgage registration fee was enacted in 1925. Its precise origins are unclear, but it s believed to have been enacted as a substitute for a property tax on real estate mortgages.Under the law, homebuyers pay a .26 percent fee on the value of their mortgage when it s registered at the courthouse, in addition to all document recording fees. The money goes to general operations.Bell, of the Realtors association, said Kansas is one of only nine states with such a fee on the books. The average mortgage fee in Johnson County is $595. In Wyandotte County, it averages out to $484, and in Leavenworth County it s $377.The average mortgage fee statewide would be equal to 21 percent of the average closing costs on a home sale in Kansas, according to Bankrate.com, which tracks consumer interest rates. The banks say the fee puts them and consumers at a disadvantage against federally sponsored farm credit banks that don t pay state and local taxes, said Doug Wareham, lobbyist for the state banking association. It s a tax, he said, that s not applied fairly. Johnson County officials say the registration fee provides a service separate from paying to record a document. They say the fee covers the cost of reviewing a mortgage and the accompanying lien to ensure both are valid. We are securing (a homeowners ) mortgage, said John Bartolac, Johnson County s director of records and tax administration. The mortgage fee is separate from another state law that levies fees for recording documents at the register of deed office such as liens, plats, wills, deeds and mortgages. The recording fees cost $8 for the first page and $4 for each additional page. The Realtors group said the average length of a residential mortgage ranges from 15 to 25 pages, meaning the recording fee could run from $64 to $104 beyond the cost of registering the mortgage. The battle over the mortgage fees has even divided the Realtors. Eilert was able to persuade local Realtors to support keeping the mortgage registration fee. There are only so many ways they can raise money for the county, said Jeff Carson, advocacy director for the Kansas City Regional Association of Realtors.Indeed, Johnson County estimates that replacing the fee could mean an increase of $65.26 on a $250,[http://www.it-wyvern.jp/~v-omi/cgi-bin/honey/honey.cgi 4.12 UC patient care, service work],[http://www.nflcustomic.com 4.12 cheap broncos jerseys],000 house. Wyandotte County would need an increase of $17.25 on a $100,000 home. In the end, it s a huge loss of revenue that will have to be dealt with, said Melissa Wangemann, legislative services director for the Kansas Association of Counties said. Either property taxes go up for everyone or the person buying the new house pays the fee.

All that mattered is Sachin Tendulkar had the gift of the ba

One day before the start of Sachin Tendulkar s final Test, Anil Kumble spoke at the MAK Pataudi Lecture, hosted by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), in Mumbai. The impact of his words was eventually muted by the swirling occasion of Tendulkar s farewell. What traction it did gain among the wider public, predictably, was gleaned from his thoughts on Tendulkar. Very few chose to broadcast the real meat of his message, which was couched in his advice to the BCCI: wear power lightly, he told them. Bully less,4.12 cheap nike broncos jerseys, build consensus more. It was an important speech, not only for what he said, but for it happening at all: very few Indian cricketers will ever publicly question the BCCI.Yet here was an India great, a former captain, a part of the system as a former state administrator, telling the board, politely, that they should be more careful, lest their empire come crumbling down.Kumble s is a widely respected voice. He is a thinker, as his role in the ICC s cricket committee and his interesting call for format-based seasons in the calendar during the speech indicate. In 2011, his contemporary, Rahul Dravid, another Indian great, delivered an equally thoughtful, eloquent observation on the game at the Bradman Oration in Canberra. In many ways it felt natural that these two spoke thus. Right through their careers was every inkling that they would one day; they are well-rounded men, not just cricketers,4.12 Richardson- Wilkerson is better than Watt, I'm bet Richardson- Wilkerson is better than Watt, I'm bet Richardson- Wilkerson is better than Watt, I'm bet, capable not only of generating but also articulating ideas about the game. In the same way it is perfectly obvious that Kumar Sangakkara is capable of delivering the kind of Spirit of Cricket Cowdrey lecture that he once did. Tendulkar it is difficult to imagine as such an addresser, though his wonderfully touching farewell speech reaffirmed not only his deep love for cricket, but also, belatedly, revealed a speaker. It is not that he is incapable of it, but because despite being such an omnipresence, he has barely revealed in public his mind, his thoughts, his leanings. It is a curious route of the kind of extreme celebrity that afflicts Tendulkar that the more public a figure becomes, the more private they also become.

I have taken stands before, but often whatever I say gets misinterpreted and meanings are attached to it, he once explained. If you know that whatever you say will become a controversy, why get into it unnecessarily? This is not a shirking of the authority and voice that comes with his stature, and let s face it, nobody has attained the stature he has, not Kumble, not Dravid.Every word he utters, starchless as it may be, does carry far more weight, but also more risk than any word uttered by any other cricketer.

In that way it is equally remarkable that he has gone 24 years in the public eye,4.12 cheap broncos jerseys china, without putting his foot in his mouth.Another way to look at it is that it goes some way to explaining his success. He has been so devoted to the single act of batting, so closed off to everything else, that perhaps the wider game and its health has just not troubled him unduly. That devotion was evident in the gesture on his last day as an Indian cricketer, when he broke away from the throng of his celebration, went to the pitch, bowed and touched it in respect, gratitude, prayer, honour and love. Should Tendulkar the reticent matter? Not really, but if you think of the career Tendulkar has not only had but lived through, you cannot help but wonder at a kind of intellectual disengagement from the game itself. The impression is that he would have preferred for his career not to have been cursed by the Chinese, jinking a way through interesting times. He was captain, after all, through the early match-fixing years; he was accused of ball-tampering; he grew through the rise of India, the BCCI and the ensuing administrative polarisation; slap bang in the middle of Monkeygate was Tendulkar s testimony; he has seen the Indian Premier League, Twenty20 and the great upheaval that has wrought. Yet all this remains essentially uncommented upon by Tendulkar, setting a marker during the first wave of match-fixing. The players should have some freedom to speak about the game, not about things like match-fixing because that s a sensitive issue, he said in 2000. Anybody who opens his mouth should also provide proof. It s important not to create controversies. I don t think as an Indian cricketer I am a diplomatic person. Rather,4.12 cheap broncos nike jerseys, I would say that I have always been soft-spoken. To me it s natural not to say much beyond the game. (In his defence, it is said he played a big role behind the scenes in ensuring tainted players could not return.) We are a spoilt, unreasonable constituency. We expect giants not just to be giants on the field in body but off it in voice.Who knows, we might discover another side of Tendulkar now that he is gone. He may find his own voice,4.12 Sketch released of kidnapping suspect Sketch released of kidnapping suspect Sketch released of kidnapping suspect, long hushed in deference to the game.Even if he does not remember, it will make him no lesser. Not for as long as the image of a Tendulkar on-drive remains, the bat in elegant recoil on impact with ball, like the first vibration of a tuning fork being hit: maybe it is just that nothing could be as pure an articulation of a man as that.

Economists- SC will have $440 million more to spend next yea

Gov. Nikki Haley has $440.5 million in new money to spend in next year s state budget and more than $1.2 billion in new requests on how to spend that cash. The state Board of Economic Advisors released Monday its first revenue forecast for the state s fiscal year that starts July 1, telling Haley how much money the state will have to spend as she is preparing her third executive budget.Haley s budget plan is the first step in the months-long legislative process that will decide how to spend more than $7 billion in state tax dollars. The state Legislature will prepare its version of the budget in the spring. The new money is a mix of $92.7 million in one-time money and $347.8 million in state revenue that economists say the state can expect to be recurring.A Haley spokesman called the forecast a clear indication that South Carolina s economy continues to recover and grow stronger under Governor Haley s leadership,4.12 cheap broncos jerseys china, adding the governor will unveil her executive budget plan at the beginning of the year. With unemployment in South Carolina at a 5-year low, we see continued slow and steady growth over the next 20 months, said Economic Advisors chairman Chad Waldorf,4.12 Cell phones could affect kids Cell phones could affect kids Cell phones could affect kids, cheap broncos jerseys, a Haley appointee.Last month, state agencies submitted more than $1.2 billion in requests for new spending in the 2014-15 budget. Those requests include $1.4 million for four new state judges, $10 million to put toward the purchase of a new statewide voting system and $17 million for the Department of Commerce to use to lure businesses to South Carolina.Sen. Hugh Leatherman, R-Florence, chairman of the Senate Finance Committee,4.12 'New driver' sticker to alert other motorists in D 'New driver' sticker to alert other motorists in D 'New driver' sticker to alert other motorists in D, said Monday s revenue increase was more than he had expected. But, he added, the state always has more requests for new spending than new money available to spend. For example, the state Department of Health and Human Services has requested $155 million just to keep up with growth in the state s Medicaid insurance program for low-income or handicapped South Carolinians. There is nothing we can really do about those higher costs, Leatherman said. That will take a good chunk of money off the top. From July to October, South Carolina has collected about $44.5 million more in taxes than expected.Year to date, sales tax collections have been up 4.6 percent compared to last year, or $28 million,4.12 cheap nike broncos jerseys, while income tax collections have been up 4.3 percent, or $58.7 million. Corporate income taxes have been down 8.6 percent. But that is better than analysts had expected.Corporate income taxes were up 53 percent last year. State economists had predicted those taxes would fall by 18 percent this year. However, the better numbers prompted board members to add an additional $18 million to their forecast of corporate income taxes.

LeBron James leading Miami Heat by example

The Heat traveled to Charlotte missing two starters ( Mario Chalmers and Udo nis Haslem), its sixth-man back in Miami with flu-like symptoms ( Ray Allen) and its project player ( Greg Oden) still unavailable. The Heat still went 10 players deep and, perhaps most impressively, no player logged more than 36 minutes. Norris Cole led the team in minutes (36) and reserve Rashard Lewis played 33 minutes. James logged less than 32 minutes and everyone else played fewer than 25 minutes. James played more than 37 minutes per game last season and Wade logged an average of 35 minutes in 2012-13. Bosh played 33.2 minutes per game last season. Most of the guys in the rotation, including Dwyane and including Chris, are playing six- to seven-minute bursts and we want to treat those bursts hard. We want our guys going out to the point where they say, I need sub. James asked for a substitution in the second and fourth quarters against the Bobcats and neither Wade nor Bosh played in the final period.Beasley gets praiseThe Heat has pushed Michael Beasley early in the season to maximize his talents.Beasley anchored the team in the fourth quarter against Charlotte and finished with 15 points. Appearing in five games this season, Beasley is averaging 11.2 points and 14.2 minutes per game. I just want him to be great, James said. He has the potential and he has the talent. I just want to give him all the knowledge that I ve got and help him out. And he can help us, for sure. Wade on scoring four points against Charlotte: I would regret it if I was trying to lead the league in scoring.

Embassy bombing sparks great fears for Lebanon

BEIRUT // Thirty years after the Lebanese capital gave birth to the modern suicide bomber,4.12 cheap broncos jerseys china, a killer has again driven his explosive-packed car towards an embassy in Beirut, hurling charred corpses through the street. For Lebanese, Tuesday s carnage at the Iranian embassy - 23 people were killed and nearly 150 wounded - was both a sharp jolt from their own bloody past and a harrowing omen of a future as the Middle East s next sectarian slaughterhouse. Many Lebanese say they now believe their country is doomed to become the next battlefield for Sunni jihadists,4.12 The Fatally Flawed Rangers Went Out With A Bunt And A Whimpe, looking for soft targets to inflict blows on the Shiite supporters of neighbouring Syria s President Bashar Al Assad.Lebanon has already been caught in the blowback from the 2 1/2-year-old civil war in Syria, with scores killed in clashes between Shiite Muslim supporters of Mr Al Assad and their Sunni foes. But Tuesday s suicide attack against the embassy of Shiite Iran, claimed by a Sunni militant group, took violence to a higher level. It resurrected the tactics born in a previous generation s Lebanon war, which are now the signature of neighbouring states bloodbaths.Shiites expressed the most fear. We expect a bloody conflict,4.12 cheap nike broncos jerseys, more bombs, said Ali Abbas, a Shiite poet attending a funeral in southern Beirut on Wednesday for four of the men killed in the attack. This is a fight between the dark and the light, the night and the day, he said. They are present in Iraq, Syria and now Lebanon. Lebanon may turn into a field of jihad - as the terrorist groups call it - as happened in Iraq and Syria, said parliament speaker Nabih Berri, also a Shiite.Other communities are also deeply worried. Lebanon s anti-Assad March 14 coalition, which groups anti-Assad Sunni Muslims and Christians, laid blame with the Lebanese Shiite movement Hizbollah, saying it had provoked the violence by joining Syria s war on Mr Al Assad s behalf.

There is a fear that Hizbollah s continued intervention in Syria will lead to the Iraq-isation of Lebanon. They went to war in Syria and brought the war to Lebanon, it said. The Syrian war has polarised Lebanon and the wider Middle East between Sunnis and Shiites. Sunni Muslims support the rebels fighting the Assad regime and Shiites back the president, whose Alawite faith is an offshoot of Shiism.

This year, Mr Al Assad gained momentum by winning the overt battlefield support of Lebanon s Hizbollah fighters, as well as help from Iraqi Shiites and Iranian commanders. Meanwhile Sunnis, including Lebanese, have poured into Syria to aid the rebels,4.12 Crucial Myths About the HPV Vaccine, who are armed and funded by Saudi Arabia and Qatar.Beirut-based political commentator Rami Khouri said the Armageddon scenario - Iranian Shiite revolutionary forces facing off against Saudi-backed Sunni militants across the Middle East - was drawing rapidly closer.

You have these two broad groups now openly attacking each other. It s no longer a battle of proxies - the principles are killing each other in Lebanon, Syria and Iraq .The modern phenomenon of suicide bombing first blasted its way onto the world s consciousness in April 1983, when a man drove a car packed with explosives into the US embassy in Beirut. The attack killed 63 people including 17 Americans.

Today, suicide bombing is the signature of Sunni groups, especially Al Qaeda s Iraq branch, which has sent more than a thousand bombers to blow themselves up at markets, cafes, mosques and police checkpoints in the past decade. It has now joined forces with the Sunni rebels fighting in Syria.Tuesday s attack, the first major strike on an embassy in Beirut since Lebanon s civil war, was claimed by a Lebanon-based Sunni Islamist militant group which warned of more attacks unless Tehran withdraws its military forces from Syria. Amidst the anger and trepidation, the public responses from Iran and Hizbollah have been restrained. Hizbollah deputy leader Sheikh Naim Qassem called on all Lebanese to stand together and face this terrorism, whatever our political differences .But privately, Shiite politicians described Tuesday s bombing as a watershed. One said the use of suicide bombers had changed the rules of the game while another said Lebanon had been turned into a jihadi battleground .

This bombing ups the ante, said Paul Salem of the Middle East Institute, noting that previous rocket and bomb attacks earlier this year had targeted Hezbollah, not its patron Iran. Lebanon is part of a proxy war that is engulfing the entire Levant and the alliances that back the factions in Lebanon are the same that back opposing groups in Syria and Iraq,4.12 broncos jerseys cheap, he said. A pattern could evolve, as it did in Iraq in 2005-2006 and onward, in which car bombs and suicide missions were one of the main instruments of sectarian and proxy conflict.

Syrian rebel commander Abdelqader Saleh remembered in Qatar

UMM AL-AMAD, Qatar // On a patch of desert far from Syria, dozens of men gathered under a white tent to commemorate Abdelqader Saleh, a renowned Syrian rebel commander who died this week from wounds after an air strike in Aleppo. The mourners, who included senior Syrian opposition members and relatives of Saleh, assembled on Tuesday evening in the empty expanses of Qatar, 20 km (13 miles) from the skyscraper-dotted skyline of Doha, the capital. The unusual scene testified to how deeply one of the world s richest nations has engaged with the cause of Syrians struggling for the past 32 months to overthrow President Bashar Al Assad.Qatar has long armed and supplied Saleh s Islamist Al Tawhid brigades,4.12 Feeding hungry families during the holidays, one of the largest rebel units operating in the sprawling northern city of Aleppo and the surrounding region.Tawhid fighters, mostly from the countryside, led an assault on Aleppo in July 2012, capturing about half the city before a fightback by Mr Al Assad s forces backed by intensive air strikes ushered in a stalemate that still endures. Since then, rebel factions have splintered. Al Qaeda-linked militants have sometimes cooperated with more moderate Islamist groups such as Tawhid and sometimes clashed with them.Abu Abdallah Al Hamwi, head of Ahrar Al Sham, an Islamist brigade that works with an Al Qaeda affiliate called the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), said this week Saleh had sought his help to heal a rift between ISIL and other groups.

He wanted a solution to stop Muslims fighting Muslims, Mr Al Hamwi said in a statement.Saleh, Tawhid s military leader, died in a Turkish hospital after the air strike that cost him his life, as well as that of another Tawhid commander, Youssef Al Abbas or Abu Al Tayyeb. For their sponsors, the rebels morale needed attention. So along with money, weapons and a lavish embassy villa,4.12 cheap broncos nike jerseys, Qatar s generosity to the umbrella Syrian National Coalition extended to a commemoration of the fallen Tawhid leader, a pragmatic merchant-turned-fighter from the Aleppo countryside.

Between sips of tea, opposition members at the wake, partly organised by relatives of Saleh who live in Qatar, insisted that his death would unite the fractious insurgents.Ahmad Jarba, head of the coalition in exile, which is backed by the West, Saudi Arabia and Qatar, told the ceremony the rebels would exact vengeance for their commander s killing. This will give the youth an incentive to move forward. When you have a martyr of this magnitude, it will make people want to take revenge, he said, standing next to pictures of Saleh on display outside the tent. Mr Jarba said Abdul-Aziz Salama, a political leader of Tawhid, would now assume overall command of the organisation. The presence of Jarba, a Saudi-backed figure, at the Qatar ceremony suggested a rapprochement between the two Gulf nations which have competed for influence over the Syrian opposition. After Syrian army gains and the loss of several rebel bases in the north and east of Aleppo in the last few weeks, Saleh, who was in his 30s, had been trying to regroup rebel factions.

Before he died, Saleh united a lot of the forces and now everyone sees the need to stay together, one hand against Bashar, said Abdulla Ghafour, a trim, clean-shaven cousin of Saleh who now lives in Qatar.Ahmad Al Sayasneh,4.12 cheap nike broncos jerseys, once the imam of Al Omari mosque in Deraa, the cradle of Syria s revolt, gave a sermon condemning Shiite Iran and Lebanon s Hizbollah, Assad s main allies. In the eyes of God,4.12 cheap broncos jerseys,4.12 Trent Richardson- 'I think I've been playing good', Hitler and (Mongol leader) Hulagu are better than Bashar, said Mr Al Sayasneh.

He told an attentive audience his message to Iran and Hizbollah was: This is not your land. You have just come to defend the sinners and the devil worshippers. Standing alone in the autumn cold, Nizar Al Haraki, the Syrian opposition s ambassador to Qatar, appeared resigned. We can t depend on the West and we can t depend on the US to strike. This revolution will only be won by Syrians. Our revolution is like an orphan, we have no real supporters.

Afghanistan and Nepal promise fireworks for fans despite rai

SHARJAH // Rarely do the organisers of cricket matches in the UAE have to concern themselves with weather forecasts. When the 2011 Test between Pakistan and Sri Lanka was briefly delayed by rain, it was the only occasion in 205 international matches in Sharjah that time was lost to anything but sandstorms. If rain returns to the UAE as forecast this afternoon, it will be a most unwelcome guest at the cricket. Forget the fact that inclement weather could wreck the logistics of the tournament and skew the points table. The ICC had been planning for the biggest party of the competition, with thousands expected to attend the showpiece pool fixture between Nepal and Afghanistan at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium. The ground administrators are estimating that 6,000 fans will attend,4.12 cheap nike broncos jerseys, while tournament organisers are hoping for a few more than that. The two nations may be relative newcomers to cricket, but the sport enjoys unparalleled popularity in both countries. Afghanistan s rise from refugee camps to cricket s top table has been an enduring fairy-tale of the sport for some time.Nepal s ascent has not been quite as sharp over the past decade,4.12 cheap broncos jerseys china, but Paras Khadka, their captain, says his players feel they need to succeed for the sake of their public. Every time we come here it is like playing in our home country itself, Khadka said. I think as a country we need to do well in cricket. We want to do it for the fans, for the people and for ourselves as well.

It is a dream for us to go to a World Cup. The opportunity is there and we will try to make the best use of it. Part of the reason cricket has caught on in the rival Asian nations is the fact that they each have national teams in which the public can believe.Afghanistan have played at two World Twenty20s so far,4.12 cheap broncos jerseys free shipping, in the Caribbean and Sri Lanka, and have already secured their passage to a debut appearance at the 50-over version of the World Cup in 2015.

Nepal are now beginning to make good on their promise at the senior level, after years of excelling in age-group cricket within Asia. Crowds want to see winners, said Tim Anderson, the ICC global development manager. Afghanistan have been extremely competitive, more so over the past couple of years. Nepal have struggled with their senior side for a little while, but they are starting to hit their straps now and they have huge crowd support. Neither side will be cowed by the pressure of the inflated Friday afternoon crowd. If 8,4.12 New York Yankees remain interested in Curtis Granderson,000 do turn up, it will still represent fewer fans than the teams are used to seeing back home. The players are used to it and they enjoy it, said Pubudu Dassanayake, the Sri Lankan coach in charge of Nepal. Wherever we go, the fans are behind us. Most of them are working here but they take time off to come and support us and see the matches and that is really great.

We feel we are up there,4.12 Lifestyle changes can save money, but every day is a new game and you have to start from the beginning and do the little things right. I m confident we are on the right track. Mohammed Shahzad, Afghanistan s entertaining opener, said: When Nepal and Afghanistan are together, there is always a big crowd, so it is a good match to have on a Friday. I love it when crowds come. The Afghans support us all the time in Sharjah and we are looking forward to playing Nepal there as so many people will come to watch us.

Rutgers was unable to move the ball with any consistency. Nova was 11 of 34 passing for 107 yards, no touchdowns and one interception. In addition to Curry and Iguodala, the Warriors are also without backup point guard Toney Douglas (stress reaction, left tibia) and backup center Jermaine O'Neal (bruised right knee, mild right groin strain).Only one of the four -- Curry -- has a chance of playing when the Warriors' play host to the Portland Trail Blazers on Saturday.Since he sustained the concussion on Monday, Curry's had three noncontact sessions: individual work at Thursday's voluntary practice,4.12 8 details you might have forgotten about the JFK a, Friday's shootaround, and pregame drills before the game. But a minute later, after his pass was intercepted,4.12 cheap broncos jerseys free shipping, Iguodala came up limping at half-court while playing defense. "I take care of it,4.12 Abu Dhabi blaze building residents forced to sleep outside a, so (I'll be back) sooner than everyone thinks." Iguodala had been the starting point guard with Curry out. "That's not how we got to where we are. ... When you let your shots determine how you play defense,4.12 cheap nike broncos jerseys, that's bad. Let's defend people, and then shots will fall." SATURDAY'S GAME

Auditor’s report won’t end Columbus schools scandal

The state investigation into student-data fraud in Columbus schools appears to be nearly complete. The state auditor said a draft report of the findings will be on his desk by the first week of December. That doesn’t mean it’s all over, nor that the report will be declared final and released right away, said Carrie Bartunek, State Auditor Dave Yost’s spokeswoman. But it is an indication that the 17 months of on-the-ground work are winding down for the team of investigators and auditors who analyzed computer records, interviewed teachers and served search warrants for student records at high schools. Meanwhile, a federal prosecutor in Columbus is examining evidence from the state investigation and a separate probe by the FBI, weighing whether there’s enough to pursue criminal charges, said Fred Alverson, a spokesman for the U.S. attorney’s office in Columbus. He said he can’t comment specifically about the investigation or whether indictments are likely. After promising swift action this past summer against employees who manipulated student data, Columbus City Schools officials have reversed course and again decided to wait for the state and federal findings. That means that only three employees who were found to have played key roles in the data scandal have been forced out since The Dispatch first reported in June 2012 that Columbus employees had been tampering with student data. In addition, then-Superintendent Gene Harris retired in June, saying her departure had nothing to do with the data scandal. Three other administrators who made student-data changes left of their own accord over the summer or this fall. But the district’s internal auditor referred as many as 30 employees for possible discipline after her investigation ended last December. The district’s computer files show that hundreds of district employees made significant changes in student data. In a letter responding to questions from The Dispatch,4.12 VIDEO- Northeastern's David Walker dunks all over CCSU, interim Superintendent Dan Good acknowledged that what he described as “a small number” of administrators identified by the internal auditor still work in the district. “Please be assured that, while there may be the perception that our interest in pursuing employment action has waned, we continue to vigorously pursue this issue,4.12 cheap broncos nike jerseys,” Good wrote. The district must “avoid embroiling the district in unnecessary and potentially very expensive personnel-related litigation,” Good wrote. It makes more sense to wait until evidence from the investigations is presented, he wrote, rather than move ahead and risk being sued. The Ohio Department of Education also is waiting until the investigations are done until it takes action against the educator licenses of those involved. The state auditor has been examining student-data fraud in the district since July 2012. Some Columbus employees withdrew students without their knowledge, presumably so their poor test scores wouldn’t count; deleted kids’ absences; and changed student grades without explanation. The FBI began investigating last October. Good said in the letter that, in most or all of the cases in which secretaries changed data, they were directed to do so by a school principal or assistant principal. They will not be disciplined unless there is evidence that they acted on their own or clearly understood that making the changes was wrong. That’s the first time the district has made a public statement about which group of employees would be held accountable. Teachers haven’t been implicated in wrongdoing. Some top-level administrators were implicated early on. Steve Tankovich,4.12 cheap nike broncos jerseys,4.12 Antioch woman changes diet, recovers from Crohn's, the district’s former data czar who has been accused of orchestrating the data manipulation,4.12 cheap broncos jerseys free shipping, resigned eight months ago. He has not spoken publicly about his involvement. Michael Dodds, who oversaw several schools and their principals, retired in January, saying he was being made a scapegoat but hadn’t done anything wrong. And Stanley K. Pyle, an assistant principal who changed hundreds of student grades in a single school year, retired at the end of last school year. He also has not spoken publicly. The district has said it asked those three administrators to leave. Officials have said other administrators who have left did so without district intervention. The question of whether wrongdoers remained in the district was a central issue in the November election in which the district sought voter approval of a 9.01-mill combined levy/bond issue. It was overwhelmingly voted down. Some of the most-prominent voices in the anti-levy movement say voters were turned off by the district’s apparent inaction against those responsible for data tampering. Jonathan Beard’s anti-levy group — No Cheaters, No Charters — urged Columbus residents to vote against the November levy in part because many of the implicated employees remain in the district. “I’ve never seen people so angry and offended as I’ve seen with this incident,” he said. “They’r e acting like we’re stupid, like we’re children that haven’t formed opinions based on facts.”

Kansas Jayhawks and Kansas State Wildcats Chasing Different

Nov 23,4.12 cheap nike broncos jerseys, 2013; Ames, IA, USA; Kansas Jayhawks head coach Charlie Weis leaves the field at half time against the Iowa State Cyclones at Jack Trice Stadium. Iowa State won 34-0. Mandatory Credit: Bruce Thorson-USA TODAY Sports Whether it s for the football game or the basketball game, the buzz the Sunflower Showdown generates has rarely been lower. Talk amongst KU fans has been centered around Andrew Wiggins, Joel Embid and Wayne Selden, and where to watch the games if you don’t have Time Warner cable. Talk in Manhattan is about where they’re headed for this years bowl game. For all intents and purposes, football season in Lawrence ended on September 27th this year. That’s the ridiculously early date Bill Self and his basketball team logged practice number one. The Jayhawks football team was 2-1 at that point, but it’s conference schedule tailspin would begin the following week with a 54-16 loss to Texas Tech, and it didn’t look like Charlie Weis would be able to pull them out of it in 2013. The celebration last week after KU’s improbable 31-19 victory over the West Virginia Mountaineers, was a celebration three years in the making. Digging out of the hole Turner Gill left,4.12 cheap broncos nike jerseys, has proved to be far tougher than Charlie Weis imagined. Last year people laughed when Charlie Weis had his team practice how they would celebrate after a game winning field goal. I bet he didn’t think it would be another 15 months before they’d get to put that practice to good use because of a conference win. The opportunity was there to have all of the momentum heading into this years Sunflower Showdown. The thing is, the Wildcats are playing for actual bowl position. Win and they likely end up in San Diego in the Holiday Bowl. Lose, and they will probably travel to Houston for the Texas Bowl. Nov 23, 2013; Manhattan, KS, USA; Kansas State Wildcats head coach Bill Snyder talks to the line judge David Oliver during the second half against the Oklahoma Sooners at Bill Snyder Family Stadium. The Sooners won 41-31. Mandatory Credit: Jasen Vinlove-USA TODAY Sports Snyder believes in the “one game at a time” mantra, almost to the point of ridiculousness. The countdown clock in the K-State football offices, counts down to the next opponent. Regardless of if it’s North Dakota State, Louisiana-Lafayette or KU, it’s always the next opponent. It’s often coach speak, but he believes it more than any other coach. Snyder’ would never admit it,4.12 cheap broncos jerseys, but he wants to win this game more than any other game on K-State’s schedule. This game shouldn’t be close. K-State has the talent edge and a definitive edge in coaching. Vegas made the Wildcats an early 17.5 point favorite. The Wildcat margin of victory has only been less than that three times in the past 20 years. But I actually believe this might be a tight contest for at least three quarters. And if it is, anything is possible. Weis will pull out all the stops, much like last season when he used a fake punt and a fake field goal on the same drive to grab the early momentum. When he’s on,4.12 Zumba instructor in prostitut, he’s deadly. Especially to . When he’s off, he’s a turnover machine. If the Wildcat team that traveled to Texas Tech and crushed them 55-24 shows up in Lawrence, the Jayhawks have no chance. But if the K-State team that played against Texas or even North Dakota State shows up, the Jayhawks have a real shot. The only question left is which version of the Sunflower Showdown will have the largest margin of victory? My vote is for men’s basketball where KU already has a win over top five team Duke on its resume,4.12 Chris Smith has a Tattoo of J.R. Smith on his back, and K-State has a woeful seventh place finish in the Puerto Rico Tip-Off. What a rivalry.

Updated Top 25 (and one)

When I went to sleep late Monday, after watching Arizona State beat Marquette, I figured Tuesday morning's update to the Top 25 and one would be simple. Take Marquette out. Put Arizona State in. Easy work. Call it a day.But then I wokeup Tuesday morning. And then I realized Dayton beat Gonzaga out in Maui. And so,4.12 cheap broncos jerseys china, with apologies to Arizona State sophomore Jahii Carson, who really is just a blast to watch, I've instead adjusted the rankings by moving Dayton to No. 21 and dropping Gonzaga from 18th to 25th, which means there's no spot, at the moment,4.12 cheap broncos nike jerseys, for ASU. Dayton, for the time being,4.12 cheap broncos jerseys free shipping, took Arizona State's spot because, I think, Dayton's perfect record featuring a win over Gonzaga trumps Arizona State's perfect record featuring a win over Marquette.Simple as that.So that's the bad news, ASU.But here's the good news: Creighton is on the schedule next. Commuter Dude- Listening to your comments on Johnson Ferry f

SANDY SPRINGS, Ga - Commuters are still sounding off about an unpopular four way stop in Sandy Springs, and 11Alive is committed to letting the city know how you feel. 11Alive's Commuter Dude has been following the story of the four way stop at Johnson Ferry Road and Wright Road since early this year. Commuters complain that it backs traffic more than a quarter mile at times.

But neighbors say it has made the area safer. One driver emailed Commuter Dude,4.12 , calling the intersection a "nightmare." Another said, "I despise that stop sign. It can add 15 minutes to my drive. I hate it." But a nearby homeowner emailed Commuter Dude to say that the four way stop has given her freedom. "It was difficult to get out of my neighborhood," she writes. "The stop sign has helped with that problem. Taking that stop sign down would cause me to stay at that intersection much longer." Commuter Dude has received dozens of comments he will pass on to the city of Sandy Springs. The assistant city manager says council members will make a decision next year on possible changes. Red Sox exploring trade options behind the plate

The Red Sox are exploring all their options to find their catcher for 2014 which Ben Cherington says has included talks with multiple teams about potential trades, . "We have interest in a small handful of free agents,4.12 cheap broncos jerseys china," Cherington said. "We've also talked to teams about trades. And we also think we're in a pretty strong position long-term with the young catching we have in the organization. And so we're in a position to be a little choosy, a little selective. If we could do something there,4.12 Can flying cars rescue commut, we'd love to. So we'll see what happens." It might seem odd to take a stance of strength with the market having suddenly thinned out with Brian McCann and Carlos Ruiz signing elsewhere, but there's more ways to look at it than just what's available on the market. The implication from Cherington is that, while the team might want some insurance for 2014, the presence of Daniel Butler, Christian Vazquez, and Blake Swihart (really, in the opposite order) makes them feel they are not in desperate need of an answer behind the plate. If that's the case, then the message is clear for Jarrod Saltalamacchia, whose return to Boston has been up in the air since free agency began: the Red Sox don't need a long-term answer, and aren't eager to commit to one for too many years. In fact, it's worth noting that Cherington doesn't even frame the position as one that needs solving, simply one the could do with upgrading. "If we could do something there, we'd love to" implies that there's the possibility that they don't. Perhaps a sign that the likes of A.J. Pierzynski, John Buck,4.12 broncos jerseys cheap, and Dioner Navarro aren't worth signing to play in front of Triple-A catchers Daniel Butler and Christian Vazquez. Still, the real spark to this is mention of trades. There's nothing to help make the pall of a thin free agent market at a position of need than opening up the rest of the league's stock. Unfortunately,4.12 cheap broncos jerseys free shipping, though, unless we're going to have a real bombshell with a player not expected to be on the market, chances are the return from any trade would be underwhelming as well. The Red Sox may not end up with much to show for it behind the plate,4.12 Golden State Warriors vs. Okl, but it seems they will at least not make an imperfect situation that much worse by panicking.

Even on his day off, Durant can't stay away from court

What does one of the best basketball players of his generation do on his day off?

Well if you're Kevin Durant,4.12 broncos jerseys cheap, you go to your local YMCA and play some pickup basketball with friends.

A columnist for The Oklahoman in Oklahoma City went for a workout at the gym last Friday afternoon,4.12 cheap broncos jerseys china, and to his amazement, he saw Durant on the basketball court opposite of him playing half-court with a group of friends on his off-day just one night after dropping 28 points against the Clippers.

Question of the Week- Is Delino DeShields, Jr. judged unfair

Once again, we've got a question for you to debate. This week, it's about one of Houston's most polarizing prospects. when Delino DeShields, Jr. was selected to the Organization : "There are a lot of people talking about how he had an off year and hurt his prospect status, stuff like that," Goldstein said. "I hope all our guys have off years and hit .317. You know, please give me that." There's a disconnect between the player DDJ is and the player we assume he can be. At least, that's the only way I can describe what Goldstein is getting at here. So, I wondered to the TCB staff email list last week whether or not DDJ would have been viewed differently if he hadn't been drafted so highly. Specifically, I asked this: if Houston drafts DDJ where they drafted instead, is he still considered a disappointment? Are his expectations set artificially high because of where he was picked in the draft? Two TCBers stepped up, drew straws and picked sides. Here's what they had to say: Terri Schlather: Yes, perception is hurting DDJ Scouting and rating of prospects is always about perception really, right? So it stands to reason that our perception of a what a first round pick should be capable of will taint whatever we think about that pick throughout their career. We'll either point and say, "I told you he was worth that first round pick," or we'll take a guy, like this one, who's a pretty darn good ball player and pick him apart because he didn't become the game's next great superstar. It's all about perception. But lest we forget my other favorite part about drafts and prospects and developments - it's all a freaking crap shoot. Teams are playing the odds. There aren't any guarantees. Any first rounder can tank. Is it as likely as an 18th round pick? Nope, but it can happen. So the toughest part of evaluating a prospect is likely ignoring the hype. Sit back and ignore what round they were chosen in and by whom. Ignore if they went to college, ignore who their father was and judge the player for what they do every single day on the field. But it's damn near impossible. We're human and perception is everything. And we place a certain value on a first round guy,4.12 Nationalism makes for bad eco, like they're all destined to be All Stars - some are, but if they aren't we deem them less than, because "we wasted a first round pick on that?" But DDJ? He's a good ballplayer. Look at his record, look at his age, look at his level and ignore everything else. It's damn hard to do. And to answer the question - if he'd been picked later, I think everyone would be much more excited about him. For the record, I think the magic was in the high socks and he needs to bring them back. Anthony Boyer: No, draft position shouldn't matter in evaluating DDJ The question of Delino DeShields, Jr. goes to the heart of prospect evaluation, and raises some incredibly thought-provoking questions about what colors our perception of a prospect. Let's examine what we know about Delino DeShields, Jr. We know that he played the 2013 season as one of just twenty-seven players under the age of twenty-one who received at least 100 plate appearances in High-A ball. We know that he put up a 133 wRC+ while he was there, struck out less than 17% of the time, walked more than 10% of the time,4.12 cheap nike broncos jerseys,4.12 Young chess player returns to board after disablin, and has stolen 152 bases in the last two seasons combined - not counting the 8 he had in the Arizona Fall League. By all counts,4.12 cheap broncos nike jerseys, Delino DeShields, Jr. is a fantastic prospect. No one would dispute that. So, then, why does it seem like the prospect-evaluation community has suddenly soured on him? Certainly not because of his results,4.12 broncos jerseys cheap, which are good. Rather, his status has slipped for other reasons: Questions about his makeup, an influx of talent behind him in the ' system, a seeming lack of position, and the idea that he hasn't progressed rapidly enough from where he was at this time last season. What do you think? If DDJ were picked where Austin Wates was, would he be considered a better prospect?

What Conservatives Don't Get About Obamacare's Holiday Push

"That particular point is backwards," said Jon Carson, executive director of OFA. "Most of this is actually aimed at people who have healthcare … and encouraging them to talk to people about what their options are for affordable care." "Something like healthcare, someone isn’t going to sign up for it the very first time,4.12 Sketch released of kidnapping suspect," he said. "We do think that moms are going to be a very important force in all this and that is exactly who we’ve been targeting." All of this is very obvious from the video,4.12 cheap nike broncos jerseys, above, which is about parents having "the talk" with their uninsured son―not the other way around. And even though it's 2013, when it comes to anything involving the word home, that means women. According to "marketing research and what we hear, especially for young people, the most trusted messenger is mothers," said Justin Nisly, a spokesman for Enroll America. "A big emphasis of it is making sure that women have enough information and have what they need to share that with their families ... our campaign is really focused on getting women the information that they need." The reality is that women are still the primary caregivers when someone in the family gets sick,4.12 cheap broncos jerseys free shipping, and they make about 80 percent of family healthcare decisions, . “It’s the cutest phenomenon ever,” said Lynn Quincy, a senior health policy analyst at Consumers Union,4.12 cheap broncos nike jerseys,. “These people could have husbands, they could have fathers, they may have a nurse who lives next door, but they’re all going to their moms" when they need healthcare advice.

Former Kansas City councilman Evert Asjes dies at age 77

Asjes died Tuesday night after a long illness. He really loved Kansas City, and he believed he did important things for the city and loved doing it, said his wife, Susan. Asjes, a lifelong Kansas City resident, was first appointed to fill an unexpired seat on the City Council in 1981 but chose not to run for election in 1983 because he was busy running the Rosehill Gardens nursery, which his grandparents, immigrants from Holland,4.12 broncos jerseys cheap, had established in 1914. I was arguing against it, and as sometimes these things go,4.12 cheap broncos jerseys china, it got a little heated. Evert, from his seat, was motioning me to sit down. NBA News- Player News and Updates for 11-29-13

You can strike this latest deal down,4.12 The most invasive animals in the U.S. are ... pigs,4.12 cheap broncos nike jerseys, however, as it’s reportedly not going to happen.
Shumpert’s name had been mentioned in connection with Cleveland guard Dion Waiters, but the Knicks just aren’t interested. That makes sense--New York would be far more interested in trading for bigs at this point, due to their defensive inadequacies.
Shumpert, meanwhile,4.12 POLITICS- Sen. Lindsey Graham reacts to U.S. Senate "nuclear option", has managed just 12 combined points in his last four appearances.
NBA Daily Schedule: There will be no shortage of action this evening; the NBA will be getting right back to business with 13 games on tap. Here’s a look at the full schedule, along with the start times and TV networks where you can catch the games. Friday, November 29, 2013 7:00 PM ET:

Mortgage fee under fire in Kansas

Not only do you have to pay document recording fees, but the register of deeds turns around and makes you pay this additional tax,4.12 broncos jerseys cheap, said Luke Bell, lobbyist for the Kansas Association of Realtors. Any time you can put money back in people s pockets, it s a good thing,4.12 In big week for Chiefs, Dwayne Bowe drops the ball, said state Sen. Julia Lynn,4.12 cheap broncos nike jerseys, an Olathe Republican and chair of the Senate Commerce Committee. There are only so many ways they can raise money for the county, said Jeff Carson, advocacy director for the Kansas City Regional Association of Realtors.Indeed, Johnson County estimates that replacing the fee could mean an increase of $65.26 on a $250,4.12 UC patient care, service work,4.12 cheap broncos jerseys,000 house.
