Biblical prophecy is not normative. Jeremiah's prophecies did not make the destruction of Jerusalem a morally acceptable act, and if we had been a part of his audience, the correct response would not have been to go and enlist in the Babylonian army so as to join in the looting. No. Such prophecies have a specific spiritual purpose, functioning something like shock therapy. The prophet paints a shocking picture of the judgement that is about to fall with a view to rattling his hearers to the point that they wake up to the fact that something is seriously wrong!

While Biblical prophecy is usually directed towards the times and people living when it was written, it continues to witness to God's goodness and God's presence with us! In general, prophecy promises that Christ will return and when he does he will bring God's judgment This final judgment of God is not something that should frighten us! Instead, it should encourage us to know that God will make all things right - sin and death, sickness and injustice will end! When we read prophecy in this way we are better able to see God's goodness to us!

The prophesied last pope is here according to Saint Malachy's vision of 112 popes "Peter the Roman/Petrus Romanus." If Malachy is accurate, then Armageddon and the Tribulation he "pastures" during cannot be more than a single pope's reign away or a few decades. But is Malachy's last pope a reliable end time sign that faithful saints should get excited about? What does Bible prophecy say about the pope? Is he the Antichrist or the False Prophet ? Learn the surprising details that both Catholic and Bible prophecy agree on about the last pope's evil reign. »»

End times buffs have taken a special interest in the possibility of US military strikes in Syria. As I reported last week, popular evangelists and writers like Joel Rosenberg have spent much of the last five years talking up the possibility of a conflict that might fit the one outlined by Isaiah and Jeremiah in the Old Testament, in which Damascus is reduced to rubble. On Saturday, Rosenberg spoke about the Isaiah prophecy in Topeka, Kansas, at the invitation of Republican governor Sam Brownback. On Monday, he appeared on Fox News to elaborate on his views.

A careful study of the hundreds of relevant texts shows that biblical prophets rarely speak about future events as if they were inevitable, but much more often transmit various kinds of messages on behalf of God to the people, conveying God's interpretation of the past, present, and future aspects of people's lives. Post Tribulation Thus, a "prophet" in the Bible is primarily a "spokesperson for God," someone who receives messages from God and conveys them to other people. If a prophet speaks words that are not from God, he or she is considered a false prophet or sometimes called a prophet of another god (e.g. "prophets of Baal" in the OT).

Whenever an event is about to happen that has to do with the moon, it's best to take a closer look, as unusual moon events are signs that Biblical prophecy is about to take place. One such event is upon is. On April 25th, 2013, there will be a lunar eclipse. Some people believe that when a lunar eclipse happens there will be political unrest and war that will follow shortly after, somewhere in the world. The belief is that the tension will escalate in areas that are on the verge of war, due to the lunar eclipse.
