Perth Sheriff Court heard officers arrived at the couple’s house in the city after Sangster reported his wife missing following an argument.

Fiscal depute Carol Whyte claimed the couple had been married for seven years.

“The accused and his wife had an argument which caused her to leave the home,” she told the court yesterday.

“He reported his wife as a missing person at 1am on January eighteen.

“The police attended his home address at 9am and the accused was found to be intoxicated and he had locked himself out.

“He made a number of comments about his wife being a bitch. He stated she neccessary further training and had become more western. He mentioned that in Asia the man in the relationship is in charge.”

Sangster was asked to go to the police station but refused and initiated ranting about his wife.

He stated: “She’s f****** wasting everyone’s time. When she comes back I’m going to tie a rope around her neck and drag her through the streets of Perth with my car. She’s a f****** dog and demands to be well-trained. When she turns up I am going to give her a f****** kicking.”

He was arrested but claimed the comments were concerning the water buffalo that he worked with in Bali.

Sangster’s wife was found safe and well and the couple had since been reconciled, the court was told. Professional

Cheryl Clark, defending, explained: “He spends much of his year in Bali and the Philippines and that is where he met his wife.

“Several months of the year the 2 of them are away and he's involved in buffalo training.

“There is no history of domestic incident.”

Sentence was deferred until next month for reports.

Sheriff Lindsay Foulis claimed: “You can think the officers have misconstrued the comments, but I have to say the comments lead to me some concern.”
