If there's water slowly leaking around the bottom of your toilet, or you continually denver plumbers smell a bad smell in your bathroom chances are the toilet feel ring has begun to fail and it is time for it to be changed.
A bathroom wax ring is virtually defined by its name. It is a one to two inch thick band of wax, frequently found surrounding a plastic funnel. The toilet polish ring functions creating a water/air tight seal between the base of the porcelain toilet base and the toilet flange (plastic or cast iron).
The toilet feel band will breakdown and fail In case a toilet rocks when it is seated upon, over time. That failure shows itself in the development of small water and scent leaks around the bottom of the toilet. If left unchecked, damage could occur to the toilet floor and hazardous sewage chemicals may build up in the house.
A new toilet polish band must also be replaced any time a toilet is eliminated (e.g. Through the installing of a brand new bathroom floor).
Replacing a bathroom wax ring is simple to do and can be done by the do it yourself homeowner with just a little knowledge and some planning. Changing a bathroom polish ring can be done in about 1 hour assuming you will find no extenuating circumstances.
The fundamental steps needed to change a toilet feel ring begin with turning off the water supply line and emptying the bowl and tank of water. The present line must also be disconnected from the bathroom.
Next the anchor nuts, secured to the Hold-Down screws, must be unscrewed.
The toilet is then put off the toilet flange and turned over.
The old toilet wax ring can then be scraped and removed off the beds base of the toilet, and a floor can be cleaned of any old wax ring deposit.
The new toilet wax ring is then pushed onto the base of the toilet and the toilet is then reseated onto the toilet flange.
The nuts are then re-screwed straight back onto the Hold-down bolts and the supply line reconnected.
The water supply line to the toilet can then be turned back on and the toilet is back running a business.
