A college classmate of mine decided to start a clinic in Uganda. After finishing college with a nursing degree, she wished to put her degree to good use. During her senior year she began saving money and getting www materials to make her dreams become a reality after graduation. She transferred to Uganda and opened a very successful, non-profit clinic. It wasn't easy at first though. While she was preparing to move, she also had to find the right materials and equipment for her organization. While finding basic equipment was fairly easy, more complex machinery and software proved to be a challenge. Possibly the biggest challenge was finding a trustworthy electronic medical record software. She wanted to make certain she had all the medical records on everyone who entered the clinic. She wanted copies of electronic medical records so she would always have information such as allergic reactions or previous surgeries on hand. This might seem over zealous but by having trustworthy records, she could offer individuals within the town the best care possible. Finding a trustworthy electronic medical record system proved to be difficult though. After many days spent on the Internet, she finally found one that was perfect. Not only did it offer a place to store each and every electronic medical record, it also provided a CPT lookup. While this may not seem like something monumental, it was wonderful for my friend since she could look up each affliction in the CPT codes lookup and record everything properly and quickly. This would help her see more patients in a day and also make book keeping a little easier.
