In the United States, psoriasis affects approximately two percent of the population and are 150,000 new cases each year. It is a chronic skin condition that may occur during a large part of the body, but it is usually located on a characteristic places such as elbows, knees, scalp and nails. Although psoriasis is very common in some families it is not a contagious disease can be passed from one person to another. These lesions usually described as red or reddened plaques with thick white scale. The classic presentation of psoriasis diagnosis is rarely missed. However, few people outside the traditional presentation, and they escape years before seeing a dermatologist.
