UK Immigration Barristers Review: UK Immigration Figures Falling Declares Immigration Minister

Following the release of a UK Immigration review concerning British Immigration numbers showing signs of decreasing, Mark Harper, the UK’s Immigration Minister, has proudly declared that tough new reforms are having the right effect in bringing UK Immigration back under control.

The Office of National Statistics’ (ONS) quarterly report, published in February 2013, reveals that the number of people applying for entry to the UK has fallen by approximately 74,000. However, the Immigration Minister’s ‘celebration’ of the news has been greeted with confusion.

Interestingly, whilst UK Immigration authorities make every effort to tighten immigration controls, Prime Minister, David Cameron’s recent exploits in India, whereby he heavily encouraged Indian students and entrepreneurs to come to the UK, seem to contradict Britain’s apparent new tough stance on UK Immigration.

Whilst it’s no secret that much of the UK public has genuine concerns about the rate of UK Immigration and authorities have acted upon these concerns, the message that is being broadcast abroad is somewhat different.

It appears that Government ministers are unsure of how to tackle the sensitive topic of UK Immigration and offer an amicable solution that quashes the concerns of the UK public, yet makes potential immigrants feel welcome in Britain.

In a statement from UK Immigration Barristers , they said: “There seems to be some confusion as to whether a reduced number of UK visa applicants is good or to bad. The topic of UK Immigration is very subjective and this latest review, which has been celebrated by certain sectors of society, has been viewed as a bad thing by others.”

In particular, the review released by the ONS identifies that there has been a significant decrease within the number of overseas students and entrepreneurs applying for UK Immigration. A survey conducted highlights those respondents, within these two areas, cited that they view Britain as hostile, given recent publicity showing advertising campaigns determined to shut immigrants out.

A UK Immigration Barristers spokesperson said: “Whilst the figures don’t lie, the review published by the ONS needs to be viewed impartially, on one hand it may be right to ‘celebrate’ reduced numbers as it relieves pressure on UK services and the benefits system. However, reduced immigrant numbers affect the UK economy, an argument that educational and business leaders have and will continue to put forward.”

The spokesperson added: “The demand for our service has increased dramatically as a result of ongoing UK Immigration debates, rule changes and cost increases. In light of this news, we want people to know that help is available to navigate what is becoming an increasingly complex system. People depend on us to offer a solution to a UK Immigration matter.”
