We found cheap houses for sale all over the country. I and my partner Ana were over a seven-week drive across the country. We liked Anaconda. Where else can you fly fish, go to a three-dollar movie in a old art-deco theatre (the fifth most beautiful in the united states, in line with the Smithsonian), fall some nickles in a slot machine, eat at a great restaurant, stop by the club for a money beer, and get a home for under $30,000 - all within a four-block area! You can find good schools and churches, a collection with rapid websites, and wildlife (including bears) a couple of hundred yards from downtown.

Why Are There Inexpensive Houses Available?

There are inexpensive homes in Anaconda, and nearby Butte since there are not many good jobs. I easily found careers in Anaconda - although not great ones. This explains why people left the region within the 80's, following the mines and smelters closed.

Thirteen % of the "housing units" in Anaconda are empty, according to the 2,000 U.S. census. It has pushed down the house prices considerably. Since it still has all the simple ammenities, is cleaner now, and is gradually recovering, it is a terrific place to retire to or to go to in case you have an internet or other non-location-based business.

An unhealthy regional economy is the reason you can buy inexpensive houses in several elements of the nation. These are towns that have seen troubled moments, but are often recovering, often with reasons. Anaconda, for example, now has, as well as it's wonderful mountain scenery, a ski resort and a Jack Nicholas golf course. Houses cost four times as much an hour in any direction, and those rates are bound to attain Anaconda in the course of time.

Inexpensive Houses You Do not Wish To Get

You will find areas like the one in South Dakota where we stopped for lunch one day. 6. The town includes a great "feel" to it.

After much research, we found quite a few towns that met our requirements, including some with houses for under $30,000. There really are nice cities out there where you can find inexpensive homes on the market.
