If you own and operate a dental practice, then naturally you want more new patients. And you have probably also heard about Social Networking. Well, it just so happens you may want to become weary of it.Let me explain:I realize I am likely to get a large amount of flack for this article. But I do not care.I have had enough. And I have chose to present a huge fantasy about Social Media (aka SM ).But before I start, let me state that I truly like Social Media. So why then am I planning to rip Social Media a fresh one? Since SM has been incurred as 'the holy grail of marketing.'When it's obviously not.Let me make my position by working through a few other beliefs:Remember the Dr. Atkins diet craze? When just about everyone thought all they had to complete was consume fat and protein (and no CARBS) and they would magically get tight and toned? Well, did you also realize that Dr. Atkins died a couple of years back? And lots of people feel he kicked the bucket from a heart-attack the result of a diet saturated in fat and protein.Who had of guessed?Or think about Y2K?Remember this one? When all the alleged 'specialists' said that as soon as the year 2000 rolled around, the entire world would explode into bits and pieces?Or how about when people swore the world was flat, and that if you sailed your ship beyond the waters of Europe, you'd fall off the face of the Earth?Look, the position here is to be tired of well-known beliefs.Anytime anything is incurred whilst the solution to all of your problems... then nine times out of then something ain't right.Social Media falls into that class too.In fact, my dilemma with Social Media is that you are able to spend a lot of time facing your computer... and... have nothing to exhibit for it.Does which means that you should steer clear of it?No, I like SM.But as long as you recall one thing:It is just one tool in your toolbox.Which begs the question:Along with SM, what other marketing campaigns are you using to generate your business?Direct mail?Email marketing?AdWords campaigns?Video marketing? Please tell me you're putting your marketing eggs in more than just the Social Networking basket? Are you?I hope so because there is so much 'on-line sound' coming at your prospects, putting all of your marketing eggs to the SM basket is not a good idea.
