During his two-year break from MMA between November 2009 and November 2011, he was competing in jiu-jitsu tournaments around the world, including claiming gold and silver medals in Abu Dhabi in 2010. Rounding out the main card is the fascinating flyweight fight between Brazilian brawler John Lineker (pictured left) and English submission specialist Phil Harris. Portsmouth's Harris has thirteen submission wins from the twenty-two total in his career so far and is coming off of a razor sharp decision victory over Ulysses Gomez. Lineker is 3-1 in his UFC run after following up a debut loss to fellow contender Louis Gaudinot with three dominant wins. In those four fights, though, Lineker has missed weight twice and making 125 pounds at Friday's weigh-in will be a pivotal juncture.

There are just a few hurdles to clear, not the least of which is Rebney can't promise that UFC will lift a finger to make anything happen. Eleven months prior to Askren’s free agency, UFC president Dana White wrote on Twitter, “When Ambien can’t sleep it takes Ben Askren.” Not so subtle. UFC and MMA are interlinked. It can be very difficult to find out a difference between the two as UFC cannot be seen as different from MMA. Well, Mixed Martial Arts or MMA can be termed as the sport and Ultimate Fighting Championship or UFC can be called as the organization. It is just like NBA and basketball, where the former is the organization and the other one is a sport. While Mixed Martial Arts can be termed as the style of fighting, Unlimited Fighting Championship can be termed as a fight organization, where MMA competition takes place.
