Camden Chimney Sweeps are around since the eleventh century in the uk and therefore the German states. They were primarily used when chimneys were clogged to the point of not functioning. the first chimney sweeps used young boys to try and do the climbing and soot removal. thanks to the harmful nature of rising on roofs, several were dislocated and even killed. because the young boys who worked on the chimneys didn't bathe typically and stood the force of the soot popping out of the chimney, they stood a high risk of this kind of cancer. it was not until the late eighteenth century that laws were enacted to educate and shield chimney sweeps from the inherent dangers of the trade. Boys were not needed to climb nude up lit chimneys so as to put out chimney fires.
Camden Chimney Sweep were developed around this time as we know them today, with an extended brush to clean out the creosote. the fashionable style of chimney sweep could use higher quality machinery, but the techniques are usually identical. it is necessary to get rid of the build-up of creosote on chimney walls. resembling plaque on arterial walls, this sticky substance builds on the inside of the chimney during normal use and becomes thick and tarry. as the creosote is repeatedly cooked-over, the chimney stands a good chance of catching fire, therefore the necessity for removal on an everyday basis.
