ANDREA: Notify us about you and your relatives track record.

DWAYNE: I'm actually celebrating my 20th year while in the non-profit sector. I grew up within the South - in Houston, Texas. I am a 3rd era black college or university graduate. The vast majority of my relatives members went to Grambling and Southern College in Louisiana. In fact, considered one of my 1st cousins was a previous president of Grambling. I attended general public university, Wiley School for my undergrad, and University of Pennsylvania for graduate faculty. ANDREA: How did you obtain associated with the non-profit sector?

DWAYNE: I started off doing fundraising with the United Negro College or university Fund [UNCF] while I used to be in faculty. From that involvement I was elected to be the Nationwide Pre-Alumni Council president, which was the scholar fundraising arm. That got me thinking about fundraising. Once i graduated university I desired to work for UNCF, but they would not employ me simply because I didn't have enough expertise. So I went to work for your United Way, did two decades there, and afterwards was recruited to move up the UNCF business in Philadelphia. From there I had been "bitten via the bug" and stayed during the business.

DWAYNE: Well, something is my great-grandmother was a well known midwife in Louisiana, and she donated the land for that 1st black college to be constructed. My mom serves on several local community boards, and my father is definitely the chairman of his church board and it has been extremely lively in the community.
