Dealing with suspicion of teenage drug abuse
Once you see specific behaviors or trends that indicate drug abuse, you may have no choice but to test your teen to confirm the facts. A variety of home drug testing kits are available in the market - you need little or no experience to use them. Urine tests can detect the presence of a drug in the urine sample for 30 days saliva tests detect drug abuse on that particular day and hair drug test kits can detect drug abuse up to 90 days. You can choose the test as required.

Choose a reliable test kit
Once the circumstances demand the use of a drug test, choose a reliable test kit to conduct home drug testing. Prefer FDA approved drug testing kits. Confirm they adhere to SAMHSA cut off levels. Multi-panel test kits that detect the presence of various drugs in the given sample are best to use at home. Choose the right multi-panel test kit. Home drug testing is becoming increasingly popular. These days, as more and more people become aware of rising drug rates among modern youths, the prevalence of these tests increases. While there was once great concern that home drug testing would invade the privacy of our teenagers, the realization of how many young people are trying and using drugs on a daily basis has changed that perception considerably. Today, drug test kits are a preferred method of determining if a loved one is using drugs, because the tests are inexpensive, fast, accurate, and confidential.

While there are often slight differences between different companies, most at-home drug tests work in basically the same manner. The most commonly offered drug testing kits use urine in order to conduct the test, which is easy and safe to obtain while offering a highly accurate result. Your child or loved one will usually need simply to urinate into a cup in order to provide the sample needed for testing.

Results of at home drug tests are usually available within a few minutes of conducting the test. Much like a home pregnancy test, there will be a control line that will appear to show that the test is working. A second line will appear to indicate either a positive or negative result, depending on the way the test is designed. Each at home drug test will come with clear instructions for both conducting the test and interpreting the results. These home drug testing kits are highly accurate, ensuring that over 99.9% of results are correct.

Home drug testing is becoming increasingly popular as the general public begins to understand how safe and reliable the results can be. Confidentiality has long been sought by families looking to find out if their children are using drugs, and these tests offer that benefit. Knowing how to best test and treat your child for drug use is up to you, and these tests enable you to choose the treatment method that you feel will offer the most benefit. Youth drug use is certainly on the rise, and these type of tests enable you to easily ensure that your children are staying safe in a dangerous world. There is also a home drug test that uses hair instead of urine. The hair home drug test can detect usage of multiple drugs going back 90 days.

There are many medical home test kits on the market today. If you or someone you know ever needs one, there are three things to consider... confidentiality, accuracy and a fair price. Make sure you go to a reputable online website that only uses Medical Home Testing Kits that are FDA approved (or cleared).

Drug testing kits are one of the popular tools to identify drug abusers. Unlike traditional lab testing methods, they are quick, easy to use and cost-effective. You can use these test kits to check yourself and others. In this article, we will discuss about home drug test kits. We will discuss about the different types of kits available, their working principle, and finally about the interpretation of results.

Home drug test kits are quite popular as they detect drug abusing habits among the family members at the privacy of home.

Types:
In general, home drug test kits are available in two different forms: strips and cups. Though cups are considered as the most comfortable devices to conduct urine testing, strips are often used as they are most affordable choice for drug testing.

Drug test strips, also called as test cards, test panels or dip strips are used to detect the drug metabolites in the urine sample. A drug test strip is a small card like device that contains a dipping strip at one end and the result panel at the other. It can be a single or a multi-panel test kit. Multi panel kits can detect 2-12 drugs using a single specimen. Drug test strips that detect SAMHSA five drugs (Marijuana, Cocaine, Amphetamines, Opiates, Phencyclidine) are quite popular.

Drug test cups are designed to eliminate the discomfort of handling the urine sample and adulteration. Though, the working principle involved in both the kits is same, their construction and design differs from each other. Drug test cups have a built-in sample collection container, and the result panel is present on one side of the cup. Multi-panel test cups that detect more than one drug in a single specimen sample are also available in the market.

Working principle:
Both strips and cups are immunoassay tests - work on the principle of competitive conjugate binding. Two types of antibody-dye conjugates are present in the test kit: one antibody-dye conjugate in the immersion strip region and the other is the drug/protein conjugate immobilized in the test region.

When the end of the test strip is dipped into the urine sample, the urine gets absorbed into the device, mixes with the anti-body dye conjugate and flows across the test region. If the urine sample has zero drug levels or below the cut-off, antibody-dye conjugate binds to the drug/protein conjugate in the Test Region (T) of the device, forming a colored line in the Test Region, indicating a negative result.

If the urine has some drug metabolites, more or equal to the cutoff, the drug present in the sample binds to the antibody-dye conjugate and prevents it from binding to the protein conjugate present in the test region. This prevents the formation of colored line in the Test Region (T), indicating a positive result.

Interpreting the results:
Once the test is administered, the results are supposed to be read exactly at 5 minutes or between 3-8 minutes. The results taken before 3 minutes or after 8 minutes are considered to be invalid. So, keep a stop watch and see the results exactly at 5 minutes to get accurate results. Many people often confuse while reading the results. Here is a simple way of interpreting them.

The result area usually comprises of two regions: Test Region and Control Region, denoted by T and C respectively. Irrespective of the test results, a colored line will appear in the control region (C), indicating that the test has been performed. So, we are now left with only one region which is the test region (T). A colored band in the T region represents the test is negative and no color band in the T region indicates positive result. In the absence of color bands on both the regions or in the C region indicates that the test is invalid.

The working principle and interpretation of results is so simple that you can use pass a drug test at the comforts of your home without seeking any professional help. So, get some and use them whenever you plan to test somebody at your home.
