blue town
blue town is a suburb of the town of Sheerness on the Isle of Sheppey in Kent. Located in the A249 Brielle road that runs from Queenborough to Sheerness. Located just outside the yard wall that marks the boundary of Sheerness and right now is largely industrial in nature.
blue town grew along with the Dock Dockyard during the Napoleonic wars and acquired a distinctive name from the practice of the first people to sustain their wooden houses, using the blue "liberated" from their employers in court dock. At one point separated from Sheerness fort by a moat and drawbridge, the area enclosed by an earthwork ramparts trace at the end of the 18th century, amid growing fears of French invasion
