With season 6 of Mad Men just starting in America, I know at MizEllie that we can't wait to see it here in the UK, now is the perfect time to pay homage to one of the best fashion decades – the 1960s. As what better fashion icon then Joan Harris with her gorgeous sexy fashion looks and Jessica Rabbit-esque proportions.

What’s more it is a decade that was huge on the spring/summer 2013 catwalks so you can play tribute to one of the most fashionable TV shows and be bang on trend too! Marc Jacobs led the fashion charge when it came to channelling the 1960s with his models wearing beehives, swinging coats, mini-dresses and at Louis Vuitton checkerboard designs stood out. However, it was a key look on so many catwalks – Moschino for example had IT model Cara Delevingne wearing sci-fi mini dresses (but at MizEllie it was her statement fashion jewellery that we lusted after – we so want the chandelier earrings she was seen wearing!) But for a more sophisticated take on the trend you could try looking to the Tom Ford catwalk where the models looked like they had come straight out of a Hitchcock movie.

So if you want to channel the 1960s trend what do you need to do? Well all that depends on your figure. If you are curvier like Christina Hendricks then you will want to try a Hitchcock style look with fitted dresses and pencil skirts with cute blouses and when it comes to fashion jewellery think chic pearls and simple gold pieces. So maybe try pearl necklaces and earrings or a pretty charm bracelet or necklace. Just make sure that you look sexy yet still classy for a true Joan style look.

However, if you have a more boyish figure you can channel the mod look, so think Megan Draper for inspiration, and opt for mini dresses and skirts, especially in monochromes, and off course sexy big hair. When it comes to costume fashion jewellery think bold, big pieces in sci-fi esque finishes. So bold bright plastic necklaces and bangles and big chandelier earrings. It's a look you can really have fun with especially if you are wearing a monochrome look as you can wear bold and bright colours or even just keep the whole look black and white for a chic sixties style.

Whatever, look you go for it is a great decade to get inspiration from and really have some fun with.
