was a time when Terrigal and the Central Coast region of New South Wales was a sleepy country place of the state that just came to life briefly over-the summer holidays. Then the F3 Freeway from Sydney was completed in 1987. Since then, Terrigal and the remainder of-the Central Coast has become a favorite escape for Sydneysiders all year 'round.

While Terrigal has never been a populated suburb, it has ever been regarded as the Central Coast's most upscale community. The establishment of the large, upscale resort changed the face of the village, leading to the establishment of several trendy boutiques, fine dining restaurants as well as other businesses. However, they never pushed the older institutions out-of city and you can still enjoy bass and chips from a sidewalk cafe or buy your surfing tools from a surf shop that has been established for twenty years or even more.

restaurants - The fact that Terrigal, while certainly an upscale community, keeps several of its older, more modest establishments is one of its charms. This is a location where you can feel comfortable in a pair of a tee shirt, board shorts and flipflop sandals, even while you are experiencing a gourmet brunch outside an alfresco cafe. As you sip a cappuccino, just across the street, surfers will probably be checking out the waves out at the Destination, households will undoubtedly be frolicking in the waves in front of the Terrigal Surf Life Saving Club under the careful eye of the lifeguards and "Mums and Dads" will likely be waiting for a huge portion of fish and chips wrapped in papers to defeat to the shore for lunch.

Another wonderful thing about Terrigal is the fact that, unlike so many urban beaches, you don't even need to be in your car and drive-in order to find a quiet stretch of shore to relax. Simply walk up the beach towards Wamberal and before you know it, you come in another world; the world the residents enjoy. There appears to become a magical dividing line between Terrigal and its principally residential neighbour: cross that line and you will actually sense the difference.

Its many comforts and central area makes Terrigal a best place to make your home while you are travelling on the Central Coast. From there, you can easily reach the other Central Coast communities, each which has its own distinctive feeling. For example, Avoca Beach, just south of Terrigal, is one of Australia's most well-known surfing towns. Like Terrigal, Avoca has become busier over time, but, also like Terrigal, it has a haven of tranquility within simple walking distance at North Avoca.

Touring in the other way, you come to the Entry. The Entry, a bigger community, has a clearly different feeling and is mostly a family group destination.

Although Terrigal has an upmarket reputation, staying at an upmarket resort like Crowne Plaza is not a requirement. In exactly the same way you could choose between a fish and nick feed for the whole family or an intimate romantic dinner for two, you get your pick of Terrigal accommodations.
