A while back, I was taught that the money is in the list. But that's a lie and I will tell you why after I tell you this story...

I joined a certain program last year that came with a 'high converting' capture page and built in follow up emails. Sounds good, right? The capture page was gorgeous and tons of people opted in to find out more, and I ended up building a pretty big list with it. BUT... it was a crappy list of unqualified 'looky-loos' who had no money and who were looking for a way to make a fast buck without working. And most of them put in fake emails to boot.

So you see, the money is not in the list. The money is in the RELATIONSHIP that you build with your list.

Being authentic and truly giving people the support and content they seek, is how to create a mailing list effectively. If your list likes and trusts you, they will open your emails, read them, and because they respect you, many of them will also buy from you.
