Please I want to know when you have any ideas to help control a barking problem whenever we aren't home. Our 2 year-old Shepherd/Chow mixture seldom barks when we are home, but when we leave her in her great pen outdoors when we're gone she yips and barks. We have tried stuffed animals and kong doll with food inside. Do we have to obtain a bark collar? Any suggestions or info on the collars would be appreciated. First, I would make an effort to find out what's causing the dog to bark. It may be only nuisance barking. In which case, a bark collar works most useful.

But I'd first rule out all the factors, such as:

- A neighbor's child who could be taunting your dog.
