AYES is a business and training collaboration that generates automotive technology job opportunities for promising teenagers and women at automotive dealerships. It had been launched in 1995 by former GM Chairman Jack Smith as an easy way to address the growing dependence on technicians.<br /><br />Spreading The Word<br /><br />'There are thousands of NASCAR fans-and others-who are ideal candidates for a lifetime career as an automotive technician,' explained Larry Cummings, CEO of AYES. 'The Expertise Challenge is a fun and engaging way to help spread the term about these wonderful career possibilities.'<br /><br />Students signed up for GM ASEP two-year programs make while they learn, rotating their time taken between courses and interning at GM dealerships and other GM service centers. There are 66 GM ASEP participating colleges in 38 U.S. states, 15 in Canada and one in the People's Republic of China. Successful students graduate with an associate's degree, and both are ready for or have transferred their National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification examination. More than 2,000 individuals are currently signed up for this program, and there are more than 14,000 students. <br /><br />If Harvick and the group meet with the Expertise Challenge by winning two of the 12 select events, GM Goodwrench can award 29 Grand Prizes, which consist of an all-new 2007 Chevy Avalanche, a $1,000 GM vehicle preservation document and a trunk high in Reese's items. <br /><br />Program Regulations Available<br /><br />Only if one race is won throughout the campaign, two happy champions will be awarded an all-new 2007 Chevy Avalanche, a $1,000 GM automobile maintenance certificate, and a trunk high in Reese's goods.
