Microsoft is revamping its certification paths, and will eventually retire the familiar MCSE certificatons. The new certification setup is significantly like Cisco's, where you'll find expert certifications to go with the more general CCNA, then mid-level certifications such as the CCNP, and then a more-advanced practical test made somewhat after the desired CCIE certification.
Microsoft's new specialist exams would be the Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS) exams. At the time of March 2006, there have been five distinct MCTS Tracks. Three of them handle.NET Framework 2.0; these are Windows Applications, the Web Application, and Distributed Applications qualifications.
