Speech Level Singing Teachers

Teachers, too, must be talented and motivated. They must have the talent to hear and see good and bad technique, and the skill to reinforce the good and eliminate the bad. They must be motivated to develop to the fullest potential each singer whom they accept in their studios. They must also respect the individuality of their students and resist the urge to "clone" singers in their own image. And finally, they must be gently and affectionately honest with their students so that realistic expectations and goals can be set and achieved, even if it's to be a better shower singer!

I do not believe that learning and improvement happen best by accident or by coincidence. In some rare cases, improvement is indeed stumbled upon. Oftentimes, though, these kinds of successes are short lived because the student has difficulties repeating the correct way of singing with consistency because he or she doesn't know what he or she did to fix the problem and create the desired sound or sensation that first time. It's a little too much like guesswork. Students and teachers must be intentional and systematic in how they approach vocal training if they hope to produce results. Knowledge, explanation, intentionality and clear, direct guidance benefit the student.

Students are encouraged to participate in weekly lessons to help promote steady progress. Students may choose to take more than one lesson per week, as well, if space is available. The benefit of having regular or frequent lessons, (as opposed to lessons that take place every other week or sporadically, for example), is that students have more focused time for developing their skills, and they tend to progress more quickly as a result because of the discipline required to participate in more frequent and regularly spaced lessons. Some of my students choose to take lessons every other week due to budget or scheduling constraints.

Prior to obtaining a teaching position, student teaching brings the greatest opportunity for “teachers-in-residency” to learn job skills at the side of master teachers. The student teaching experience offers the chance to practice and receive feedback from practitioners who have a wealth of expertise to share with student teachers. The relationship offers two-way learning opportunities since student teachers also bring from their studies knowledge of research-based pedagogy that can be applied in the classroom. In addition, student teachers often offer skills in using technologies as learning tools that add value to a partnership of learning between the experienced practitioner and a younger generation of student teachers.

Listening to a teacher’s students can also help to make your decision. A sign of a good teacher is one who has students from both genders and multiple genres of music. Of course it’s not possible for any teacher to have 100% of their students be excellent singers, singing teachers in Essex but if they all share common vocal problems (if they all have breaks in their voices, sing in a breathy manner, have no vibrato or wobbles, or sound like they are yelling), chances are the teacher is not an effective one. Hastinapura Foundation was established by Ada Albrecht in 1981. She introduced Indian philosophy and became a Guru for the Argentines seeking wisdom. She wrote a number of books such as ¨The Saints and teachings of India¨ and ¨The teachings of the monks from Himalayas¨. Gustavo Canzobre was one of her singing teachers in Essex students, who is now the Director of the Hastinapur college of professors. He was seventeen years old when he became interested in Indian wisdom. During the Third Festival of India organised by the embassy in Buenos Aires in November 2010, he gave a talk on the temple architecture of South India.
