The Inn at Kristofers, located on Bay Shore Drive in Sister Bay, Wisconsin, is an excellent place to get a special dinner. My husband and I treated ourselves to dinner there during our latest trip to Door County and we were very glad we did. The very first thing we discovered after being seated was the beautiful view of the water. The restaurant is directly across the road from the Bay in Sister Bay and big picture windows along the front wall of the restaurant present the water view.
Soon after being seated our water glasses were filled and a wedge of fresh lime was added. We were given choices and fresh, hot, multi-grain rolls. The rolls were served with butter rosettes flavored with fresh basil.
The special that morning was prepared quail which my husband bought. I'd the qualified Angus filet mignon, and our oldest son, who had joined us o-n our holiday, chose the Roast Duck with Orange Grand Marnier sauce.
We skipped snacks, soup, and salad even though featured soup for the morning, walnut butternut squash bisque topped with pecans, seemed delicious since we wished to save your self room for dessert.
All three entrees were excellent. The demonstration of the dishes was pretty and the foodstuff tasted just like it seemed. Home-made garlic mashed potatoes and a garnish of haystack potatoes rounded out the entre.
The duck was tender, wet, and very delicious. It was followed closely by new steamed greens that were cooked perfectly, and wild rice that contained dried cranberries and nuts.
The grilled quail was, in accordance with my partner, cooked to perfection. He really loved it. As the goose and a crepe filled with a cranberry sauce, which he thought was delicious too it was followed closely by the same wild rice.
For dessert we split two selections; a pumpkin mousse torte and the crme brulee. The pumpkin mousse torte had a very gentle pumpkin taste and was served with a fresh whipped cream and caramel sauce. The crme brulee was flamed at the table with Grand Marnier. The mix of creamy vanilla custard, stiff caramelized sugar, and Grand Marnier was de-licious.
It is a great place to go for a particular meal whether its for someones birthday, anniversary, or simply to treat yourself, even though the Inn at Kristofers is not an inexpensive restaurant.
