What is Attention Deficit Disorder - ADD?

De BISAWiki

A colleague of mine at work features a son diagnosed with daughter or son attention deficit disorder. Information On Hypnosis contains new info about the meaning behind this thing. When I talked to her about it, I wondered how you could tell whether it was ADD or 'only difficult or slow.' It is particularly difficult to inform with children around age about 16. Where would you draw the line? My own personal grandmother was a school Head teacher for quite some time and she used to say that children didn't develop intellectually as quickly as women.

My interest lifted, I chose to investigate further. It appears that we now have three stages in normal devel-opment. The very first stage is seen in children if they become centered on something for a period of time and ignore the rest. A kid whose devel-opment stops at this stage could have a tendency towards autism.

The second point is each time a baby is continually finding different things of interest but never able to focus on one thing for very long. A young child who is caught at this stage of development could be recognized as having attention deficit disorder.

It would appear that at the third stage, a kid develops the capability to shift their attention at will and to concentrate their attention for longer periods. This is thought to be a pat-tern of focus and attention and is the amount required to achieve success in the classroom.

However, according to my friend, Anne, ADD isn't just about being incapable of centering on such a thing for extended. The purpose is that folks with Attention Deficit Disorder can not select when to pay attention, what to pay attention to or when to stop. Anne explained this became clear when undertaking a normal task like crossing the street. Her son has been taught many times how to cross the street safely. Nonetheless, without warning, if he has to wait for anytime or observe the traffic for a place, all the instruction will get out the window. He knows he has to cross the road and will just go!

The funny thing is that, alongside this failure to choose when to give consideration and when perhaps not, is definitely an ability to forget to take a break and intensely focus on a particular task. This may be repeatedly performing the same jigsaw or seeing the same video for the exclusion of anything else. If this is simply not recognised and worked on, many people say it can cause obsessive behavior, and drug abuse, overeating later on.

A variation on ADD is ADHD, or Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. People with this are usually called struggling to relax or are constantly 'on the go', to the extent that even if sitting down, they may constantly be 'messing' or squirming in the chair. For parents this is a problem as the child needs very little rest and there is no break from each of the restless activity.

Just what exactly help is there? Will there be a remedy? Is it a thing that a young child may grow out of? The answer to the last question is 'no', ADD and ADHD is just a physical inability of-the brain. It does have a tendency to run in families but it's not due to poor parenting or bad discipline.

Attention Deficit Disorder and Treatment:

Children may get medicine and treatment that helps you to overcome the problem, when it is identified early enough. The issue is detecting the degree to which some body involves aid, whilst the selection is very broad. Most experts appear to propose a treatment combining medicine and psychotherapy. Psychostimulants such as 'Ritalin' and 'Dexedrine' help improve the sluggish section of the brain causing the problems. Therapy really helps to train ADD sufferers to pay attention, control impulses and act accordingly in all sorts of conditions.

Along side this medical treatment, it is acknowledged that diet could be essential. There is evidence to suggest that some young ones with ADHD can behave defectively to certain combinations of foods. These range from milk products, candy, wheat, fruit and particularly additives. A possible link between hyperactivity and attention difficulties and the usage of additives and colours in food is found.

There's also been some research into essential fatty acids as it has been discovered that people with ADD look like without Omega 3 and Omega 6. It is thought these fatty acids are necessary for proper growth in mental func-tion and brain develop-ment. The Omega 3 group of essential fatty acids are found in fish such as fish and mackerel, along with flax oil. Omega-6 can be found in safflower, sunflower, canola and corn oil, margarine and vegetable oil. Parents may decide to get one of these change in diet to see if it helps, although none of the evidence is conclusive.

In order to complete, it was interesting to see that on many internet sites some famously effective people shown habits that now lead professionals to believe that they'd ADD. Included in these are people like Beethoven, Mozart, Einstein and Pasteur. The American Institute of Health Care Professionals, Inc.
